This thread concerns Shen stopping PP's sex ed classes.  Something that will likely increase the rate of abortion for Shen teens.

No, it takes PP out of the Shen sex ed class...those classes will continue.

Must be confusing when Mom & Dad explain the birds and bees and then you go to the Shen PP portion of sex ed and they tell you something different. Go be 'liberal' correct elsewhere...my kids deserve not to be lied to.

Why would it increase the number / rate of abortions?  Is PP not able to function without being in students faces - collecting tax dollars?  Where's the FAMILY?  Where's the family doctors?  Where's PP "education"?  Seems there's more money in abortions than there is in education services.

If you want to know what Planned Parenthood Calls Abstinence... (not what you posted they believe)  Just read
their definition of Abstinence posted at their site:

What Is Abstinence?
You may have heard people talk about abstinence in different ways. Some people think of abstinence as not having vaginal intercourse. They may enjoy other kinds of sex play that don't lead to pregnancy. This is better described as outercourse.

Some people define abstinence as not having vaginal intercourse when a woman might get pregnant. This is better described as periodic abstinence, which is one of the fertility awareness-based methods of birth control.

And some people define abstinence as not having any kind of sex play with a partner. This is the definition we use on these pages.

Being continuously abstinent is the only way to be absolutely sure that you won't have an
unintended pregnancy or get a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

So, they describe three forms of abstinence and then claim that 'this is the one we use on these pages'.

WHAT!!!! That's so bassackwards and manipulative, even I'm offended. It's not the abstinence definition they choose, just the one they will care to use for the next few pages.

It's a confusing manner to teach students.

3% of PP budget is spend on abortion services.  The other 97% is spend on sex education, birth control, STD treatment
and education, family planning etc.

If your kids are getting good advice and sex education at home, then PP is not needed.  If, like many families, they are
not... then PP is needed and by many of these kids and families, wanted.
THOSE KIDS ARE BEING DEPRIVED OF A GOOD EDUCATION ON THIS SUBJECT BY A VERY FEW RELIGIOUS FANATICS.

Then send them to a PP "Education Center" - and YOU pay for it.

Agree. You want to confuse and lie to students about abstinence, then do it elsewhere. In my opinion, when you confuse people, you control them.

Let Shen go back to its own sex-ed class where abstinence is taught as one definition. That's not a religious thing - that's the honest thing!

PP needs to re-evaluate this because they are sending mixed messages to those they want to help.

3 % of all Planned Parenthood health services are abortion services.
This number is certified Whittlesey & Hadley, P.C. | Certified Public Accountants, who as independent auditors,
certify Planned Parenthood's financial statements, including allocation of funds for abortion services.

If the larger portion of their services are focused around education then I believe it's time we all woke up. Three confusing definitions of what abstinence is....that's not education. That's sending mixed messages to influential teens.

Let your wife come home and say "I didn't cheat on you, I'm still abstinent...I only have outercourse with other men." And you want to teach this hypocricy to teenagers? Come on Box, your smarter than that.

I could post it again, for a 3rd time,  but I doubt you'd get it this time either.

PP's position of what constitutes abstinence is No sex.  No touching, no oral sex, no anything, as I posted above.
Either the local PP educator gave the kids the wrong information, in which case, the educator should be sanctioned...
or
Your version of what was taught is not what PP actually teaches.

PP does teach that if you engage in oral sex, you can still contract a STD... It's not safe sex and
the information that they promote clearly states that fact.

I could re-post your entry as well, but I doubt you'll understand this - PP gives THREE DEFINITIONS of abstinence...yet they 'refer' to one...which isn't quite taking a stance in my opinion.

Listen, you let your kids learn whatever you want, but, if you are so adamant about PP educating the masses, well, then you're perpetuating a larger problem. When you confuse kids, send them mixed messages and don't take a firm stance on a very basic definition....you are creating a huge problem.

This PP program is flawed and not a responsible learning tool. It either needs to be revamped or, like Shen has correctly done, it needs to get out of the public schools.

Right--which is why bill clinton did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky.  He was abstaining.  LOL

I'm against this decision, planned parenthood knows far more about sexual education than most educators or parents. It is in the best interest of society to cut down on unwanted pregnancies and STD's. I find it ironic that sex is the only subject that we don't want professionals teaching our kids about. Why don't parents teach their kids engineering? As for oral sex, every where I have looked planned parenthood has consistently said it will not get you pregnant, but will leave you open to possible contraction of STD's. They are not trying to confuse anyone and are pretty clear on what is actually going on.

Read from Planned Parenthood's playbook and you'll see you are mistaken.

1. "You may have heard people talk about abstinence in different ways. Some people think of abstinence as not
having vaginal intercourse. They may enjoy other kinds of sex play that don't lead to pregnancy. This is better
described as outercourse."

(This clearly states what some people call abstinence, but they disagree with the definition and call it "outercourse,
not abstinence")

2. "Some people define abstinence as not having vaginal intercourse when a woman might get pregnant. This is
better described as periodic abstinence, which is one of the fertility awareness-based methods of birth control."
(This clearly states what some people call abstinence, but they disagree with the definition and call it "periodic
abstinence", not abstinence")

3. "And some people define abstinence as not having any kind of sex play with a partner. This is the definition we
use on these pages."

(PP clearly states this is their definition of what constitutes "abstinence".  Not #1 or #2 as some kids may believe,
but PP's definition is #3.
