This Is CNN: Woeful Ratings, Just Not as Woeful as Last Year
Written By Robert Seidman
December 28th, 2011

2011 Primetime
FNC: 1,868,000 viewers (427,000 in 25-54)
CNN: 689,000 viewers (222,000 in 25-54)
MSNBC: 775,000 viewers (242,000 in 25-54)

On the heels of 2010's primetime numbers, the worst for CNN  in at least 15 years, CNN was up in 2011 with both advertiser targeted adults 25-54 and total viewers. But even with a 17% gain in total viewers and a 29% gain with adults 25-54 in primetime, 2011 was still CNN's second-worst rated year over the last 15...............>>>>...............>>>>........................http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.c.....as-last-year/114839/

News? Now for the rest of the story...

2011 Primetime
FNC:.... 1,868,000 viewers    (427,000 in 25-54)
CNN:...... 689,000 viewers     (222,000 in 25-54)
MSNBC:.. 775,000 viewers     (242,000 in 25-54)
ABC......7,775,000 viewers  (2,100,000 in 25-54)
NBC..... 8,715,000 viewers  (2,418,000 in 25-54)
CBS......6,172,000 viewers  (1,791,000 in 25-54)

Most Americans may watch CNN, FOX, MSNBC, for a special report or breaking news, but ABC,CBS & NBC
is Americans source for real news.
(In perspective, FoxSnooze would have to increase it's viewership by 400% to finish 3rd among the MSM Networks.)

Apples and Oranges
Neither Abc, NBC, or CBS are dedicated news networks. I know of VERY few people that watch 3 hours of news every night. And these three major networks have a much bigger reach than the cable networks as they have HUNDREDS of local affiliates with local news lead-ins that the cable networks don't have.

Right.  ABC,CBS & NBC is where America goes for their news programming.
Cable News covers "breaking news" and what America watches while they get their oil changed or a haircut.

Where cnn, msnbc and fox gain is news via the internet, where more and more people get their news.
The three major TV networks presence on the internet is poor at best, with the possible exception of NBC.
People are increasingly unwilling to sit through a 30 minute show where you have only 23 minutes of real programming and 30% of that is fluff. In the 60 minutes it would take to get local and national news on tv, even a novice on the internet gets better content in 15 minutes. News via the tube is DYING. CBS has been fighting a losing battle since Walter Cronkite.

Exactly correct! The internet is the best news source. And comparing cable news to network news is like comparing apples to oranges! Cable news is 24/7......network news is 'time slotted'. No comparison.

the problem is they are rating THEMSELVES to stay relevant....it really doesn't matter what their numbers mean anymore.....why???? because of the internet.......

they are relevant only if they actually report news......weeding through the blowhards is getting ridiculous....whether it be pumpkin head-matthews or hot air-oreilly.......joke joke joke.....

AAAAANNNNND.....all of them are part of the 1%/ court jester gang........
