A Christmas Secret

1954 was our first Christmas in Rotterdam. I was 7, my sister 6 and our brother was just 2. We were still at the age where Santa Claus was very real and like all kids, on this particular Christmas Eve, we anxiously were awaiting his arrival. It was around 7:00pm and nearly time for us to go to bed, but Mom had let us stay up to watch TV.
So there we were, the 3 of us on the sofa while Mom and Dad were in the kitchen when there was a knock on the door.
Our house on Helderberg Ave. had an enclosed front porch, and the doorbell didn't work. If you knocked on the outer door you wouldn't be heard, so the person knocking was probably someone we knew. Mom hollered from the kitchen to get the door, so I got up and opened it.

When I saw the person at the door I let out a scream and literally flew the ten feet from the door to the sofa and huddled with my brother and sister.
There he was!!
Santa Claus!!
Standing in our living room!!!
Mom called out “Who is it?” but we were petrified and couldn't answer. Santa spoke each of our names, and asked if we were good. We said we had been and Santa gave us each a gift. By that time Mom and Dad had found their way to the living room and were grinning as Santa wished us a Merry Christmas and left. Our first reaction was to ask Mom and Dad if it really was Santa who had just been there and with a twinkle in their eyes and smiles on their faces they said “Of  course it was, so you'd better get to bed so you'll be asleep when he comes back.” We went to bed knowing that on our first Christmas in Rotterdam, Santa had paid us a personal visit.

Every Christmas after when we gathered, the conversation would always go back to that night and how Santa had come and scared me half to death. We'd laugh about how I had flown across the room and then the inevitable question of who was in the Santa suit would come up. The answer was always the same, “It was Santa Claus” Mom and Dad would say with that twinkle in their eyes.

My father's last Christmas was in 1998, but still each Christmas after we would ask Mom who was in the Santa suit and the answer was still the same, “It was Santa Claus.”
My Mother's last Christmas was in 2006. She was very ill from a variety of ailments, and suffered from dementia. As we chatted, the story of Santa coming to our house on Helderberg Avenue was once again told and I turned to Mom and asked her yet again, “Who played Santa Claus for us that time?”, and Mom seemed to awaken and there was that twinkle in her eyes and the little smile as she said for what would be the last time, “It was Santa Claus Bill.”

I think my Mom and Dad are sitting together now and smiling with that twinkle in their eyes, knowing for all those years they kept their Christmas secret that thrilled their children on that  Christmas Eve so long ago.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Back to the topic of the thread -- A Christmas Secret. I believe that the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity are keeping a plethora of secrets as we head into the New year -- like what color G - string panties does Joe Bxr wear? And what perfume does TakingItBack use when he goes on a date with his better half? And how much MT paid for his subscription to Playgirl? And last but not least --- how many sexual reproductive organs does MikeChristine the human earthworm have down his/her pants.........

GREAT STORY!!! And your parents apparently enjoyed the yearly questions. By the way....did you ever find out who it was?? Or was it 'really santa'?

actually...I will tell you the secret.....listen closely and then check under your bed for monsters....

The Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity have a naughty and nice list that must be fullfilled. On that list are DVOR/Hamburg/scotsgod8. There was a very very very secret meeting regarding the
fullfillment of this list. Many ideas were passed around the table in a quick phrase way. Then we decided to write our wishes on paper put them into the hat but only drawing out that number to
fullfill the naughty and nice list. You see, there were way more pieces of paper with great ideas. Some of them had tasers, others had shovels listed, one even mentioned a cage with ducktape.
The ideas were creative and witty barely above the law. However, once we got going we decided to use ALL the ideas. One by one on a random basis. Oh my, the hair on my neck is just electrified
thinking of our meeting behind closed and very very secret doors to decide what to do to bring DVOR/Hamburg/Scotgod8 Christmas cheer. Someone did bring up the twelve days of Christmas to make
it more of a traditional fullfilling of the holiday list. However, we decided it would best be kept a secret for your discovery. Have you checked under your bed yet?

Merry Christmas

ps. dont forget to check your closet

That was an excellent story. Too bad the Naydick had to throw insults and make comments that make a 12 year old look smart. Poor pathetic soul. About to go under with nothing to be remembered for. They can have the wake in a broom closet and set up two chairs.

I am hoping the bunch of Nayboobs who operate this forum get together this Christmas and insert dynamite into each others orifices as way or greeting each other..  THEN we may finally get some peace here on this website.
