Background checks are in place to help keep guns from criminals, the mentally ill and terrorists... There is no reason that private sales should be exempt from background checks.
of which the only caught criminals make up 1/8th of those registered as criminals.....THE REST HAVEN'T BEEN CAUGHT.....oh wait....I forgot about the fingerprint/DNA banking to 'protect' kids from being victims of crime.....now does that make sense?.....

how do you know if someone is mentally ill or a terrorist or a criminal if they've never been caught?
well, the national healthcare law has it all wrapped up....because what we cant see/feel/touch or understand in someone's head, those same said 'experts' will tell us who is what and then we don't have access to our own mental health records AND they dont have to tell you that the one time you went to your MD for a 'little helper' because there was a divorce/death/job loss etc or whatever, and they took that little prescription and progress note and tucked it away in your 'file'......
HIPPA is NOT A TOOL FOR OUR SAFETY/PROTECTION OR GOOD HEALTH.....live open and free without the government telling you they are protecting you.....
if you love your liberty you better demand it back....

that's ONE person.....even if we sat here and listed 100 folks.....it wouldn't come close to those we stand in line next to everyday....or park next to....or stop at a stop light next to......that have no written record/history

seriously.....I thought you watched the news.....local news has it on all the time....
do we think the shanked/beaten up person who ends up with mental disabilities because of brain damage from either blood loss or blunt trama or crushed skull is ALIVE to their fullest enjoyment of life.....that would be a death sentence to me.....
getting maimed in a profound way as to change your life can be 'death'.....ask a soldier,,,,you appear well versed in this.....

I work with folks that have the scars......
and news stories are REAL....maybe spun depending on which neighborhood your talking about....
ie: the streetwalker that was hit by an elderly woman....she died---REAL LIFE ie: the woman I take care of that was in a car accident where her infant was killed and she suffered such head injury that she has a feeding tube and her language consists of few words because her muscles cant form them and she is a mechanical lift and her limbs are slowly contracting into herself even with daily 'forced' range of motion....she gets to live like that for the rest of her life..
but you know what gets me is how the news media talks about car accidents/shootings/stabbings etc etc......
"there was a car accident/shooting/stabbing on such and such street and in such and such neighborhood, but no fatalities have been reported." show film of scene with police tape/smashed cars blood stains/etc.....what they fail to grasp is the degree in which we get 'living death'........
worked with a guy who was stabbed defending his brother in 'the hood'.....he has a few issues that he HAS to see an MD for every year.....his brother ended up in a wheelchair.....
