As a Scandanavian,  I am proud of my Viking heritage and of Scandanavian traditions such as those surrounding the Christmas Season.   One of those traditions is the celebration of the Feast of Saint Lucy.

Happy Feast of Saint Lucy to all --- may Jesus Christ the Light of the World shine in your hearts and in your lives this day and all throughout the New Year !!!!

denial of YOUR self interest? or is it about the rhetorical removal of personal responsibility that ends up with the statement "Atleast I gave up my time, so I deserve a freebie"???????

a GREAT decent value is personal where with all-----to do......

I just want your view.....Honestly....

Well -- in terms of the Roman Catholic Church definition -- the Christmas Season begins  December 24th at sundown  and goes until the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord  (which is the Sunday after the Feast of the Epiphany which is the Sunday after January 1).   The 4 week period BEFORE Christmas Eve is Advent.

In terms of my family ---  there are certain "pre-Christmas traditions" -- Feast of Saint Andrew (Nov 30)when we recall our Scottish roots, Feast of Saint Nicholas (December 6) when we exchange some small gifts and the Feast of Saint Lucy (December 13) when we recall our Scandinavian roots  ------  we put candles in the window during Advent and a few  outdoor decorations  for the 4 weeks of Advent  --  but we do NOT put up and light the Christmas Tree until Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve at Sunday -- we eat the Polish Wigilia dinner and then light the Christmas Tree.  Other than going to church, Christmas Day is a quiet family day to rest and spend time visiting.   The Christmas Tree remains up and lit through the Feast of the Epiphany.    On the Feast of the Epiphany, we exchange some more small gifts.

The Sunday between Christmas and New Year's is the Feast of the Holy Family -- so we invite the extended family for out for dinner at an "undisclosed location".   (this year there is no Sunday between Christmas and New Year's Day ... so we may have to schedule something on a Sunday in early January.

Oh here we go with the lectures

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Families and extended families should spend more time creating family traditions during the Advent Season and the Christmas Season ---- and completely reject the secular commercial "rites" that have infested a most beautiful and spiritual time of the year.

First step that every family should take - reduce the emphasis on "giving things" ...  exchanging simple gifts instead of going thousands of dollars in debt.   The emphasis should be on gifts hand-made by the giver or gifts of items that were not only purchased locally but preferably  produced locally and definitely ONLY items Made in the United States of America.

Another suggestion -- one gift could be a hand-made or store bought item (same rules as above) and the other gift could be the "gift of self"  .. for example a "gift certificate" which can be exchanged for example -- to a loved one who is shut-in out to a movie and lunch -- or from a parent to a child to spend an hour each day reading together or sharing a common hobby/interest.

Where do you cut and paste this drivel from?

The key thing is to focus on the positive and ignore the negative -- this should be year round but is quite appropriate during the Holiday Season.  As we approach the end of the year, it is a good time to "sweep out" all of the negative people and things in one's life  ..  metaphorically put these negative people into a garbage can and squash them down with your boots so that they can't keep popping up again -- and then throw them in an incinerator.  Good riddance to BAD TRASH  (a.k.a. the nayboobs) !!!!

Although St. Lucy is a Scandinavian holiday, St. Lucy was born in Sicily to a wealthy family and gave all her money to the poor. She is now the patron saint to people with diseases of the eye.

Also, DV's Scottish backround does explain why Gravel Gertie and Hamburg have subscripts with scottish sayings. Hard to keep up with the lies.

I am very familiar with the life of St. Lucy --- the Scandinavians shared a lot with the people of Italy .. for example they introduced the Italians to cod fish when they sacked Rome over 1500 years ago.

Since I have made no secret of my Scottish background, it would not be difficult for an imposter to throw some Scottish quote in his or her subscripts.

As for lies -- the only person who is lying right now is YOU --- because I do NOT post under any other user name and NEVER HAVE.
