ROTTERDAM — A tractor trailer driver who failed to negotiate a turn and severed a pole with his truck knocked out power to some 800 homes on Monday night, police said.
The crash happened at about 7 p.m. on the corner of Broadway and Westcott Road, Lt. Jason Murphy said, when the driver of a tractor trailer was attempting to turn from Broadway onto Westcott. The truck plowed into a utility pole and broke it, taking down power lines.
Power had been restored as of Tuesday morning, Murphy said.
No one was injured in the crash, and the truck driver was ticketed.
