Man faces prison for bogus bills stuffed in car's roof

ALBANY — A 48-year-old Bronx man caught with more than $4,500 in counterfeit money, most of it stashed in the roof of his car at Crossgates Mall, is facing up to seven years in prison, prosecutors said.

Aaron Poindexter pleaded guilty Thursday before Albany County Judge Stephen Herrick to first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, accepting a 3½- to seven-year prison term when he's sentenced in March, District Attorney David Soares' office said.

Poindexter was arrested Jan. 8 after passing some of the bogus bills at the Guilderland mall. Gee, wonder why he didn't come all the way to the wonderful city of Schenectady like most of the criminals from downstate do.  Oh, right, unless you want to buy drugs or go out for some drinks, there's no place to spend your illegal currency in the City of Schenectady.
