As I entered government service, everyone was better looking than I, better resumes, tons more education, etc. I did have more practical experience & I came from private industry. The 'real world'. I used near all of my knowledge base all of the time, the other only a fraction.
John D Rockefeller, he was of average +1 intelligence, like myself. Not average just a bit higher by contemporary means of measuring same. He too used all of his faculties that is why he was able to do what he did.
Herman Cain falls into the John D, Ira grouping. He is that kind of leader, he will never shine but knows how to turn the lights on.
I have done much reading in the course of my life. My two favorites character's are Field Marshall Erwin Rommel (Afrika Corp) & David Bengurion, the Israeli leader in 1948. Rommel when confronted with a tactical problem & challenged by a subordinate Rommel would say "we will do this & if it does not work we will never do it again".. Benguriion when challenged by Polish/Russian Jews (early Israeli's) who like to argue would say, "we will do this, then argue later after it is completed why we should never have done this". Jews, Poles & Russians have a lot in common.
I do not endorse reckless behavior especially with the public Treasury, Bush - war, Obama = Sylindra, but some time you must trust a gut feeling, a God given gift.. Since God has been abolished in America, we do not have leaders who have such capacity.
Genius & personality are good things but in over abundance can be a liability.
Look at the total man or woman. Measure their potential by their success, not policy positions.
I take pride in my success's, as minor as they may seem to others. I look to a leader who has had success in life. Do not confuse leadership with leadershit, we have had the latter for 2 + administrations.
