Hands Off Social Security

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Social Security is Socialism.  And???

Your public water system is Socialism.  So is your library, your police force, the boy scouts, The Catholic Church,  your
Fire protection, much of your town services...
Are you going to get rid of those Socialist services, for no other reason than they fall under the definition of Socialism???

Social Security works.  Probably better than any other US Govt program.  If you want to privatize Social Security, you'd also
be prepared to build an addition with another bedroom on your home... Grandma and Grandpa will be moving in with you
soon.

grandma/pa still have to move in because everyone thinks social security equates to retirement......that's a boldface lie used as a podium puck by our elected

No Box, wrong again...These are public services that are provided at a local and state level, and with local consent.  If the town residents want to return to well water instead of public water because they don't want to pay water tax, they can.  There isn't a federal tax levied to provide local public utilities.  Also with public water, it is usually metered and the customer actually has control over their usage and cost - unlike Social Security, where the more you make the more they take.  It doesn't matter where you go in the Union, you cannot get away from Social Security Tax.  And if you pay into it your whole life and die before you can collect, guess what?  That money was pissed down a rat hole, and you sacrificed the fruits of your labor for somebody else to collect because by chance they happened to out live you.  With the public services you mention, you pay for the service and you utilize the service.  It is not a crap shoot like Social Security where you could pay tens of thousands of dollars and not see a dime in return.  And every time the government raises the age when you can collect your social security, that's the equivalent of Las Vegas raising the odds to favor the house.  They raise the age to make sure more people don't reach the age to collect and the house wins.  Pretty sick isn't it?

The federal government doesn't directly tax me for boys scouts or the Catholic Church.  So I don't even know what you meant with those two examples.

Don't states have the option to opt out of social programs such as social security if they choose? Wouldn't it be the same for national health care?

There are private alternatives to both social security and national health care. Why aren't the americans allowed to make that choice for themselves?

I'm not sure about your particular system, but most that I've encountered, everyone in the water district is required
to hook up to the community service.  The same with public sewer systems.  Most require that you hook up to their
system even if you now have a functioning septic system.

Nope there's a socialist local tax to provide local socialist services.

Many socialist public water systems are not metered.  Business pay one rate and residents pay another.  Some of these
socialist municipalities charge for a sewer tax, based on the number of toilets in the residence.

Our Socialist libraries exist for the good of the general public at large.  Every year I get a tax that pays to support our
public library, even though most citizens never even enter their socialist library.
They pay into the system, but most never or seldom use it.

They are examples of Socialist institutions that are common and mostly supported in the United States.  By giving the
Catholic (and other) churches tax exempt status, they are allowed to benefit from socialist community funded services,
like street paving and plowing, water, sewer, fire protection, police protection... FREE OF CHARGE.  Those Socialist Churches'
get the services from your tax dollars.

This is not true. My in laws are forced to pay for the water service whether they hook up or not. And they haven't. They are still on well water but they are still paying a water service tax. Same goes for sewers...that I know first hand.
