Joseph Paterno is an American Hero. I was fortunate enough to know some very fine individuals who grew up with Mr. Paterno in Brooklyn so in a round-about way I am acquainted with him.....I will always like his for his values and tenacity in such a competitive sport....
Way to go!! Throw your support behind someone who was part of a child abuser coverup.....are you going to support Jerry Sandusky and Mike McQueary also?....did you bother to read the Grand Jury report ? ( I suspect you'd consider it a romance novel)........what if you'd seen Sandusky raping the 10 year old boy in the shower? what would you have done??......judging from your posts with an emphasis on bestiality, I think I may have answered that question myself...btw JoePa hired a criminal defense attorney overnight....and the school had told McQueary not to show up Sat.......you continue to take creepiness to new levels...... |

What else did u expect? These are the same names and faces and political party that was involved in the Jimmy Constantino cover up. And now they 'again' control rotterdamians. As for this whole Penn state issue..............it appears that there will be more ugly information rising out of this disgusting mess!! |

It is frightening in this new America that a Grand Jury indictment now equals a conviction. We live in scary times, and it is more and more evident that our justice system is broken and our society is in moral decline. There is no more "innocent until proven guilty" in America. A grand jury indictment has created this mob justice mentality that pretty much allows the media to slander a person before his day in court. If I were you, I would rethink what you believe in this case and try not to get caught up in the media frenzy and put yourself in the shoes of Joe Paterno. Ask yourself this, is every 3rd party that possibly knew of these allegations a criminal, and should they be dismissed from their job? Do you know what the number one crime was in Communist East Germany? Not reporting alleged crime. If that's the new America - Everybody is guilty of something. |

I agree that the media takes this to a whole different level, and people like Nancy (dis)Grace, Jane (the b**ch) Velez Mitchell and Greta Von(speculation) have made nice livings off this kind of thing but.........in this case (which because of my fervor for sports and total distaste for the way major college programs are run I've been on top of) I don't think I'm caught up in the media frenzy. I have serious doubts about the Mike Madden interview where he claims Sandusky was pimping out kids to alumni. That's way over the top to me, although I'm sure others are running with it. Do I think JoePa knew what was going on....absolutely.....He was the most powerful person on that campus.....he built a library........brought in over $50 million last year alone.....he was Penn State......is he a criminal for not reporting to the police what he knew........no......should he have been fired.......yep!!.......is every 3rd party that knew of these allegations a criminal?........no.........should they be fired?........yep..........'cause if someone had come forward in 1999 when these things were being whispered maybe some kids would have been spared from Sandusky..........the only real criminal here in my mind is Sandusky, but the others who knew need to pay too!! What gives you this knowledge, a Grand Jury indictment? The fact we even have grand jury indictments is proof that there is no such thing as innocent until proven guilty, since apparently a grand jury indictment brings with it a presumption of guilt. Your humble opinion was formed by the media's speculations and opinions, and a grand jury report. The defendant has not had their day in court. And JoPa is getting tarred and feathered and slandered without his day in court. For many Americans the verdict is in, the reputations are destroyed, and if JoePa IS actually innocent of any wrong doing, it doesn't really matter at this point because America has made their decision. SCARY. I just hope something similar to this doesn't happen to you |

I'm not picking of fight with you personally...It's more of the societal issue I'm addressing. I guess my point is, public opinion fueled by the media hysteria has its consequences. We used to have a justice system that would prevent these types of witch hunts because of the damage it could do to innocent peoples reputatons. Innocent people's reputations can be destroyed just because of their association with Penn St. football during this time. That's unfortunate. |

I get what you're saying, I really do.............I know from reading your postings here how you feel, and to be honest with you I agree, the media hysteria is very frustrating.........I no longer use cable news outlets as a source of news, hysteria=$$$ and I can't take them seriously.......so I look for other sources, as many different ones as I can find.........I started following this story closely on Mon. when Kim Jones, a Penn State alum, who worked there for years and was close to the sports program was reporting on it. She had a lot of insight into what was going on, and knew many of the folks involved. Yeah, she's still a reporter, but if you had listened to her reporting you'd know that she wasn't biased one way or the other.....it was good stuff.........Hey I respect everbody's opionions (well there's a couple here I have no use for ) and I'll always agree to disagree.....Peace out. |
