One of my favorite quotes..

"Al Swearengen: In life you have to do a lot of things you don't f**king want to do. Many times, that's what the f*** life is...
one vile f**king task after another."

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I remember the first time I saw it- it was half way thru some episode where she was swearing up a storm and I sat there dumbfounded and burst out laughing at how over the top her language was. Of course they didnt have all of those colorful expressions in those days so they used modern ones to get the point across as to how foul the language use would have been for the time.

Anyone who is an afficionado of the old west needs to see that series and put up with the vulgarity. It was well done and dark. Hickok was not as old a man as he is portrayed at the time of his death(39 I think) but he is portrayed well as the broken and dispirited soul he was. He was really the first modern gunslinger of that era, but his eyesight was failing as is the norm for men in the late 30s. He was not the cold blooded murderer some think he was and he is portrayed fairly in the show. If you want a real killer- look no further then John Wesley Hardin! But like most of the other notable men of the middle frontier - a product of the Civil War. Lots of booze was the remedy for those guys, they had seen a lot worse then any of us can imagine. But the West would not have been settled as rapidly if not for that driving force and malevolent wind which whipped across the prairie, carrying the remnants of he men seeking to leave it all behind...Of course, when we only have 2 cars, 1 bath and 4 TVs today, we are considered oppressed by life and capitalism and the man. Americans now have no idea of what adversity is today.

Al Swearengen: "Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair or f**king beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back."

More Al Swearengen wisdom................

Calamity Jane: "Maybe I will have a f**kin' drink, for sociability's sake and 'cause I'm a f**kin' drunk."
Joanie Stubbs: "What's your preference?"
Calamity Jane: "That it ain't been previously swallowed. "
