I have no problem with you buying local, as I also prefer the same. The issue I have is that you continue to fail to realize that transport refrigeration is intended to "delay" the ripening process. Growers DO NOT want them to "turn red" befoe they ship. With proper temperature monitoring dependant on the produce being shipped, the ripening process is slowed from the time they are picked to the time they are delivered. If the grower were to gas the produce beofre loading for shipping across the states, they would reach maturity much quicker and have a shorter shelf life.
that is why the tomatoes from the large commercial growers taste like crap --- and are not worth buying I won't eat a tomato unless I have grown it or I have purchased it from or received it directly from the grower. and I prefer heirloom varieties of tomatoes .. not the hybrid ones |

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with your opinion about tomatoes...except some of the large growers have very good tomatoes...not like homegrown, but still very good. |

Why don't you believe that we agree on some thing? I am a rather reasonable person. |

In all honesty, I think you "can be", but again in all honesty, you seem to be so narrow minded that you won't allow yourself to see other opinions or that your path is not the only path. |

That is pretty funny that you would say that -- Actually, I am very open-minded -- the fact is that I am NOT an ideologue and I prefer to think for myself --- for those who actually do know me ... they know that I work with with people of all different beliefs and backgrounds -- and work hard to find a way to respect the different views and still develop a consensus. Despite what you and others may think, I have never blindly followed the "party line" - I think for myself and speak my mind -- which isn't something that is always appreciated. But I would rather be straight-forwardand face the consequences than be a hypocrite who just "plays along to get along". And at the end of the day, I have no regrets and can sleep well at night. Many people do respect that I am open-minded and that is why I have friends and acquaintances across all party, ideological and other lines. And - finally - this medium does not allow for people to realize that some comments are made very "tongue in cheek" or with a very dry sense of humor. If it did - you'd know when I am laughing and when I am dead serious. |

"Open minded" must be the term for "out of the closet". Friends? Ya, bet you have plenty Rhonda. |

Anyone remember from the 60's NIFTY DONUTS on Altamont Ave? Also the Curry Rd. plaza had a K-Mart as well, if memory serves. |

I remember the K-Mart in Curry Rd Plaza .. don't remember the Nifty Donut shop.
Our family didn't buy or eat donuts that often -- about the only time of the year we ever had donuts was the weekend before Ash Wednesday when my grandmother would make paczki. She always made some prune filled ones and some with a custard creme. |

Think back on a cool fall morning - can't you just smell the Italian Bread coming from Lasorsa's brick oven ... getting it home quickly, cutting it and melting copious amounts of salted butter on it and loving life. |
