First and foremost, Fox is crap. Just another very greedy corporation. Think of the last couple of episodes of Friends, or Cheers, in which each cast member were getting paid more than a million dollars per episode.
That's why you see so much "reality" TV now. Networks would rather pay $50k, amongst 10 people, for whoever can eat the most bugs, than pay $10mil in salary and production costs, PLUS residuals into perpetuity.
I like The Simpsons, and if ever you have the chance, watch to repeat of "Inside the Actors Studio", featuring James Lipton, and the entire Simpsons cast, speaking most of the time, in their cartoon carachtar voice, I highly recommend it.
I have a feeling though, that being they were, and still are actors that you would probably recognise, and given the longevity of the show (23 seasons), their royalties/residuals each year, probably rival that of their salaries.

They haven't used ink in a long time, and not even Disney uses ink anymore. They (Simpsons) did at first though, but we're talking 23years of computer technology here.
I think it was somewhere around the 5th season, they had a show where they answered fan mail. "Why don't you ever have a live episode?" "Because at 24 frames per second, our hands would break off".

I AM that old......and the point is that the plebs were so 'taken' by the jesters that priority left their heads....I'm all for art and entertainment but the minds of the plebs really did turn to mush....
kind of like the saying that one goes blind when one masturbates....hence the warning on the viagra commercial......(the real reason being continuous changes in blood pressure and the small vessels in the eyes),,,I guess the simpson's cast will now be doing viagra commercials.....still entertaining, dont you think?
