Inside info......politics maybe behind all this.....one of DM's cohorts

interesting very very interesting......

I wonder if I will get help paying for my kids college via assist with home bills.....

I dont mean to sound callous...but really EVERYONE gets hit and there is no fundraisers......

I'm not going to get a raise for 4 years....how about a fund raiser?

this also spreads to a larger picture of how the trading system is broken and barter always exists.....the trade system is filled with coersion

I've had some "fund raiser" experience. A very close friend of over 30yrs ( a band mate actually) suffered a very serious stroke in '08. The remaining band members and myself decided we like to do something to help with some of the medical costs. So we began to look for a place to hold it. Called the Elks, "Sorry we only do that kind of thing rarely, can't help you out." They would also charge a fee. Called the Eagles, same thing. My sister called the senior center, and John D was very helpful.....but there seemed to be too many hoops to jump through to make it work for us. (Kitchen wouldn't be available, had to submit written request etc.)

Fast forward to this past winter.....one of the remaining band members died of cancer just before Christmas several musician friends decided to have a memorial / tribute, so in Jan we began to look for a venue. The Senior Center came up again, we decided against it. Someone suggested SSFD. One of the guys knew someone there. I can't remember exactly the price they were asking, but I'm pretty sure it approached $1k. That was out.

We finally found a place. Mulligan's Pub in Round Lake. They were happy to have us. No charge, put out a ton of food for free and were incredibly nice.

and that's my experience with trying to find a place to hold a fundraiser in Rotterdam.

I stand corrected, but Pina and Joe do have one child in college and one still in high school.

You do not have to come, no one is under any obligation.  Plenty of fundraisers are held
at the Sr. Center.  One for the girl at Mohon who had a form of cancer for one, among others.
The fire departments were out because they cost way too much to rent which is a joke because
the residents pay for those friggin million dollar fire departments.

It will be a nice dinner, please attend if you can.

looks like you knew the wrong people.....besides...maybe the fee charged is not right....but I am sure there are other places that help....you found it outside of Rotterdam.....and so have I.....

thanks for your comments....always two sides to a story....seems like it is one-sided in this town....based on what the spin is and how well you are known...or should I say....who you know.....

Why don't you shove it sideways. If you think for one moment that people who are from the outside -- are entitled to as much in the way of benefit that the taxpayers and town fathers and mothers of this town have worked for -- then you are sadly mistaken.....I happen to know many of the leading figures in this town PLUS many of the First Responders and Volunteer Fire Responders and THEY DO TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN!

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THAT?............. Am I supposed to feel sorry for someone who does not avail themselves of the opportunity to befriend and get involved with the leaders of the town because they are outsiders and are not friendly people? Why would I care if you chose not to do work on campaigns or fund raise like I have -- in order to better be acquainted with the various leaders IN THE TOWN who are in a position to help those in need THAT THEY KNOW PERSONALLY!

That is what is different about this town -- we take care of own.......... IF ONLY ALL the residents were smart enough to reach out to their town fathers and mothers to make themselves KNOWN TO THEM! Then THEY TOO would be able to be taken good care of in their time of need! ................If one choses to ignore their civic leaders when their civic leaders and/or First Responders need them -- then they too will end up IGNORED. ---And I know quite a few Nayboobs who need to be IGNORED!!!

I personally have no problem with town leaders using their influence to assist those --who are smart enough and CARING enough to support the leaders and First Responders -- FIRST! Only a DIMWIT would think otherwise!

Congratulations. I have never seen typical Rotterdam favortism so eloquently and boldly justified by a member of the ruling class without embarrassment of any sort. This is why the maggoted 7 plus Diane need to all be voted down on election day.

I am beginning to wonder if this fundraiser is a front for a DM/democrap meet and greet?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

4. I bet you know who's basement the barrels are in...

you are a moron....at first you entertained me and now you just pissed me off with that kind of NON-government access comment.......

You forgot to mention that in order to be taken of.....they need to have a vowel at the end of their name.

Even if the 'right' person/s ever gets elected in rotterdam.....they will have their work cut out for them. Rotterdamians can rest assured that the friends and family club will do everything and anything in their power to make things as tough as possible on them. Trying to 'do the right thing' in rotterdam is all but impossible. Historically there have been slashed tires, cut phone lines, threatening letters, unnecessary ticketing...etc.....

so in order for all rotterdamians to live in peace....they have 2 choices.......ONE...become one of the friends and family club.....or.....TWO...oppose nothing and keep your mouth shut.

aka....go along to get along!!

Bumble......I respect your thoughts.....but I suspect that go along and keep your mouth shut is not within your
character....but if it is....I envy you....being independent, assertive, moral, and a Christian does not make that invite my choice......the problem is that most think that the latter is the way.....well, get people in numbers and se  what happens.....these buffoons would go down big time......air out of their heads,...and get what's coming to them.....
