After watching these video, it makes one wonder who is running rotterdam.........Mr. Brick? Same as Mr. DeLzo. They were both once rotterdam's town attorneys. It clearly does not make for a level playing field and would make one think that this could be a conflict of interest.....yes?
They do a lot of grandstanding while replacing 'professional dialog' with 'argumentative dialog.' imo |

She was disrespectful how? Because of the fact that the Supervisor had given her the floor, as it was a public comment section of the meeting, and he decides to turn his back on her and have a side conversation while she was in the middle of talking? She, if anything, was being respectful, waiting for him to finish the conversation she was having before "interrupting" with her points that she was trying to get through to ALL the board members.
Technically - privilege of the floor is NOT a conversation ... it is directing a statement to the chair (in this case the supervisor) .. the chair is not only not expected to respond to the statements but - in general according to parliamentary procedure - is NOT expected to respond .. it is NOT supposed to become a back and forth. If you want a conversation with the chair (in this case the Supervisor) see him after the meeting or make an appointment to meet with him. It is highly disrespectful to shout out like she did -- and then lecture the chair. She should have just continued to make her statement for the public record -- which is basically the only purpose of the privilege of the floor -- and then sat down. It was also highly inappropriate to disrupt those speakers who were speaking in favor of the project. |

Let us all be reminded folks that elected officials are OUR SERVANTS.....not the other way around. This woman had every right to tell her SERVANTS to pay attention.
The government works FOR THE PEOPLE!!!
This has nothing to do with 'respect'.......it has everything to do with the chain of command and 'we the people' are at the top of the chain lest someone forgot!! Remember....as quick as 'we the people' got you in office is as quick as 'we the people' can get you OUT!!
LET'S NOT FORGET THAT........k? |

And Technically - I didn't say it was. I said that she waited for him TO FINISH HIS CONVERSATION prior to stating her points. It's only with THIS administration that you can't have a conversation with the chair... because he has to find out how things work. I wonder why these people are even able to say anything and ask questions that they haven't previously submitted in writing with a minimum of a 2 week waiting period to get answers...by mail. If the public wants answers, those answers should not be coming in the "after-meeting." It should be when the question is asked, or as soon as possible immediately after. It may be highly disrespectful to shout out like she did, but at the same time, it is just as disrespectful for him to start a side conversation when she is speaking. If he wishes to speak to the attorney, he could have easily just requested that she wait a moment. Let's go back to him running the town like his business. The speaker at the podium would be an employee/customer that was having a conversation with him when another issue came up. If he was running the business, AT THE VERY LEAST, HE WOULD EXCUSE HIMSELF FOR A MOMENT TO TAKE CARE OF THE "PRESSING ISSUE THAT COULDN'T WAIT." Is he still in business? Well, with the last rainfall today, I saw that it looks like he installed a pool in front of his business again, right at the corner of Burdeck and Mariaville. Wonder if it will be taken care of before the end of his term, or he'll just ignore it, since it doesn't directly affect him. |

She was definitely disrespectful and out of line.
Sorry, you give respect to get respect! Pretty simple concept . . . |

Its also interesting to note that FDG made the comment that he didn't know anything about the resolution which is why he is talking to the lawyer while she was speaking. Might I reminde us that he had 2 weeks to talk with the lawyer since the last meeting about the resolution that he voted yes on. So basically he voted yes on a measure he heard people talk against that he had no information on. |

So how are they going to balance the budget- by laying off 2 $9.00 an hour lifeguards who work part time?
That's the administrators modus operandi, start at the bottom and work your way up. Thereby the ones who make the rules, are always the last to go. |
