Rep. Tonko holding telephone town hall for Irene victims
Print Story Published: 4:23 am Share Updated: 4:26 am

It's been nearly a month now since the remnants of Hurricane Irene soaked the Capital Region.

And tonight, Rep. Paul Tonko will be taking part in a telephone town hall with constituents to find out what they need to get their lives back on track.

The town hall goes from 5:45-7 p.m.

Before it begins, a random number of people from Rep. Tonko's district will receive calls inviting them to participate.

If you don't get a call and want to participate:

Call 877-229-8493

Put in access code 17621

Enter participant pin number 1

Interestingly, this was previously announced that it would be at 7 PM, bu I guess that Paul thought there might be too many people able and willing to call in at that time, so he moved it to an earlier time, moving it on the day of the meeting.

Sickening. Why can't he go door to door in the Junction, Glen and Stockade? People lost everything and they have to call to contact this buffoon.

He's already been to the jct and shook hands and kissed babies. In my opinion.....these 'town hall meetings via phone' is a slap in the face to the taxpayers. Is this the best he could do? Exactly how many flood victims have the time or even a phone to use? Tonko has always prided himself on being 'everywhere' and 'anywhere' there was media coverage. It is looking more like he feels the hostility and anger among the voters now.

I'm sure he'll get an earful about stratton too. First for the mess he left in schenectady.......and now the flood. (not that it was obviously his fault...just sayin)

Nothing like that personal touch. Pick up the phone and call Taxin Tonko. No time to go door to door in the Stockade. Too busy grading pathetic Obama an A+.

I spoke with Tonko's office today.  He is in DC and it is better to speak to him by phone than not at all.  Also better than speaking to an "aide."

In other words, there wasn't a festa tonight where he could shake hands and kiss babies, so all of a sudden, he's worried about taxpayers and the environment, so he's not going to jump on a private jet and come back.  Maybe they pushed it up because he's got a more important meeting with a K Street lobbyist right after this important meeting.
