The American Red Cross is calling for volunteers to assist with the disaster
recovery efforts that are occurring in the areas devastated by Hurricane Irene.
Although my time is devoted to many causes, I feel that it is important that
I help those family members, friends, and neighbors (both known and unknown)
who are experiencing hardship resulting from the flooding.
I spoke w/ an American Red Cross representative at the Saratoga district
office(in Glens Falls) this morning. The number is (518 )792-6545. She stated
that, although they generally require a commitment of one week per year, they
are welcoming those who may only be able to commit to a weekend due to the
great need for volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering as an individual or as a member of an
organization, you should visit the website at
http://www.redcrossneny.org and
complete the volunteer application and the background check application.
Once you are approved, you should call (518 )694-5103 to schedule a training
session.
I hope that each of you will consider donating a few hours of your time to help
those in our communities who are in great need of assistance.
Looking forward to working with you.
