As not an avid reader/expert on the Bible I throw this out to you.   I understand that the Bible states we are born in God's image.   What if life is found on a distant planet someday, not the microbe type, but a functioning being with a degree of intelect who's appearance is nothing human like.   Are they God's children as well?   What would that do to that reasoning and understanding of the Bible as we have come to know?   If there is no reference to any other life out there other than our own, is it safe to assume we are all that is?   Is there any reference/interpetation for such an example?   Serious replies please.

A serious reply...
The Bible was written by man, not by God.  It may or may not contain His views, but it certainly does contain the views of man in it's writings and contradictions.
Although Christians look at the Bible as THE source... I look at it as ONE source of Gods teachings.

God presented the Bible to Christians.  Muslims consider that the second time that God 'spoke to man'.  The first being to the Jews, and the third in their Muslim Koran.
If life abounds on other planets, wouldn't God have also spoken to them, and in a way that fits their needs?
Maybe God in his infinite wisdom, knew that no one version would fit all men of all regions or times.  Possibly He will again appear to present an updated version of his Word.  Jesus spoke in parables  because that method was understood by the common people of the day... today who knows??? Gods Kindle

Don't limit yourself when you consider what is meant by 'the image and likeness of God'.  If God is truly "limitless" , his Image would be limitless!

Except for our planet, there has yet to be a place, without need for adaptation that man has been able to roam.  I believe, personally, that we are the only ones "out there," but I guess there is room for that.  Yes, there may be a chance for others, but I think we're all there is.

If life is found on another planet, I would assume that for the most part, they would look like us, but with whatever change may be needed to survive where they were placed.

We were placed here to live here.  If we were meant to expand to other places, you would think that those places would have been able to be found and we would be able to adapt to the environment.  As it is, this is the only environment we can survive in, so I believe we are the only ones.

On a lighter note, hopefully, if there is someone else out there, it isn't the likes of Jar Jar Binks.

"Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people."
Carl Sagan

Sagan, a man who understood the universe better than almost anyone, considered the chances of life on other planets almost a sure thing.

Interesting subject. I really don't know. When and if the day comes when we find life on another distant planet, I'll give it more serious thought. Until then......this world has enough issues to deal with as it is.

Only God knows for sure!

It is sad to think that this species (aka "Humans") would be the sole inheritor of the vastness of the universe.  This is particularly true with regard to how we treat our fellow man, and this planet we live on, contrary I'm sure to the plans of God.  We are a species at constant war, of famine, of suppressed personal rights and freedoms.  If this is the "plan" then the experiment really went awry, IMHO.

I dont think it went awry...I think we just think that small....we do only live a mere 80 or so years and only so many of those are
productive.....

Agreed, I was thinking more like beheading people because of a religous belief, the famine in the Sudan and other parts of Africa and the aid, or lack of, that the world offers.  We have predator drones that gps pinpoints and blasts the "enemy" yet we can't/won't feed our fellow man.  Or take Rottendam, the "What's in it for me the heck with you mentality!"  Hard to imagine that our species barbarism and selfish greed entitles us to be the inheritors of the universe.  I'm hoping NOT, we don't deserve it . . .

oh we deserve it.....do we really think others are always better than us?.....do we really think others are worse than us?

we think so short in terms of future that the 'at least' mentality sets in......but at the same time it would be like a heart muscle
cell telling a liver cell what to do.....that's why we ARE all different and fight over resources.....we are a 'body' of sorts.....

Since this thread is 'say'th the bible'.............the bible never spoke of everyone being the same....except that  all folks were created in his image. Other than that there were rich folks, poor folks, the haves, the have nots, government etc.......So in my simple uncomplicated mind.....there will always be strife in one form or another.

By going awry- would that be Eve biting the apple ? and then God needing to send Jesus to be a propitiation .  Are we the retarded planet ?
