I've been "sitting on the sidelines" and observing the dialog that has occurred here over
the past several months.
I find that there are a few posters, perhaps a single poster under different aliases, who
seem to have sour grapes because things didn't go their way in political affairs. Rather than
remaining involved and attempting to move things back toward their positions, they
have reportedly switched parties to those to which they were formerly opposed and have
spent endless hours making countless accusations, personal attacks and insults, and
promoting the idea of conspiracies and fixes. Some are even reported to be working with
the candidates of former political adversaries, not out of principle, but of spite and vengence.
If the site is "NNTP biased", it is because those who post here largely support the candidates
who are campaigning on the NNTP site. Because you don't happen to agree with our position,
doesn't mean that we are all "in the tank" for anyone. Further, if the Administrator does have
an opinion, he or she is entitled to do so.
I have heard and read of all the rumors around our town. I believe that many are spread to
soil the reputations of people who are willing to serve the town residents or to attempt
to impact the results of the upcoming election.
I only wish that all residents of the town could have insight to the characters of those people
who are/have been seated in town government or who represent their political parties and who
will seemingly stop at nothing to attain or retain power or gain influence and wealth. Taking
issue with one's position or ideas is fair game. Malicious insults about a person or his/her
family are off base.
I hope that we can work together to improve, not tear apart, our community.
