The IOWA Straw Poll has no impact on my political decision other than offering up a candidate or two that is no different than what is there now.

The results of the Saturday poll in my opinion had a meaning, they usually do not.  Ron Paul's placing second tells me something - the people are madder than we imagine.  Discontent is deep.

Ron is a distraction & not much more.  He may have a message at one time but it is lost.

Polenta's dropping out tells me, the people have had with the negative stuff.  The man had the face of a politician.  Bad enough to be a politician but TO LOOK LIKE IT

Remember, no matter who wins the general election, someone or group takes them in a room, tells them what they can & cannot do (say) - if they do not follow orders they get LBJ as VP & take a trip to Dallas.

Can somebody teach Ira how to change the text color?  The posts are bad enough, but what is really irritating is, after all his posts, his inability to use the color text function.

Ira, if you wish to add formatting to your post, it's necessary to select  the portion of the text you wish to format. This is basic computer knowledge. ie; I want this sentence to be bold, in italics, with a sans serif font, colored red and a font size of large. So I select the entire sentence and apply the formatting after I've made the selection. Please note that you'll need to select the text each time to apply the the formatting you desire. For example select text and apply bold, then select text again and apply italics etc. Hope this helps.

Oh no, thanks folks just had to show him didn't you   It looks so childish to put an entire post in a color.  Putting a sentence or two in a color or one of the others options like bold italics etc. actually makes the point even more noticeable.

Oh well, will just skip over those posts.

The Iowa Straw Poll is meaningless as a predictor of who will win the GOP nomination ---   in the 5 times that it was held between 1979 and 2007  ...    only 2 of the straw poll winners went on to win the GOP nomination .. and of those only 1  - George W Bush won the presidential election.

I believe that Pawlenty's withdrawal had more to do with Perry's entry into the race .. and I think that Pawlenty is now on the short list for VP nominee   (along with Daniels and Santorum)

Agree!! Ron Paul is being nicely put aside because the 'system' knows that 'he knows' how to bring some sanity, liberty, freedom and fiscal responsibility back to the place it first started!! We have already seen and heard these clowns running forpres. repeating bits and pieces of Paul's ideology in hopes to win some of his supporter over. AIN'T HAPPENIN'!!

I think Pawlenty was just a "placeholder" until Governor Perry entered the race.

Perry will be the GOP nominee in 2012 -- and Pawlenty will end up with a cabinet position.

I am hearing talk that  Senator Toomey of PA is emerging as a potential VP nominee.

Having a popular senator from Pennsylvania would be a great strategic move --- that could help carry the GOP to victory in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey  (winning 2 of those 3 would be crucial for a GOP presidential victory in 2012).
