How hot was the month of July in 2011? So hot that just by plotting the location of each daily heat record that was broken, a nearly complete image of the contiguous United States is visible.
Almost 9,000 daily records were broken or tied last month, including 2,755 highest maximum temperatures and 6,171 highest minimum temperatures (i.e., nighttime records).
It should be noted that the tally of records collected so far is not complete – more are expected to come in as station data from across the U.S. is mailed to the National Climatic Data Center.

This image plots how many times a heat record was broken or tied in a given location. Some cities reached daily high temperatures 19 out of the 31 days in the month.

The electric companies love it and their stockholders are even happier.

NY State has been losing population for decades to the south and west.  One of the unexpected results of Climate Change, is that Americans will likely move inland from the coast, and north.  Upstate NY will likely be faced with a whole new set of problems as America abandons unlivable Arizona, Texas & Florida for areas like upstate NY.

I doubt it. Nobody is coming back here. Ever. Unless they are turd worlders.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

GB is right, NY residents are moving out of this state because the taxes are way too high, businesses are far too few, and jobs are non existant unless you can live on entry level jobs.

Don't be so sure that these companies won't get established here then pick up and move when the special tax breaks are gone.

If Climate Change progresses as many scientists believe that it will, many business will be leaving their new factories in the sun belt and heading back to a more hospitable climate of Upstate NY.

What happened to the cities will be under water, there will be an ice age, more category 5 hurricanes that never happened, global warming that isn't warming. Next year Texas may get too much rain so then that will be climate change too. This has all happened before in the history of our world just be patient and wait the climate will change again.

From 1974............

Quoted Text
This article was originally published in Time Magazine on June 24, 1974. Now, considering the revelations about "Climategate", perhaps we need to return to what was known before greed and manipulation took over science?

Quoted Text
As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years, a growing number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval. However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age.

The Term Global Warming refers more to the ocean temps... a more accurate term has always been "climate change".  Some countries may have a better climate others will have their farmland turn into desert... Some low elevation with huge populations may be underwater.

There is a difference of opinion about the speed, the extent and some effects of Climate Change, but there is little doubt among scientists that it's real.  The most pressing problem will be feeding an expanding population on a food system totally rearranged by changing climate conditions.

Believe it or don't, all the same to me.  I'll go with SCIENCE rather than the POLITICIANS on this one.
