That's is how FDG and the "Revitalize Rotterdam" team won two years ago. With platitudes put forward by The Party, running as a referendum of the Republican Administration, not engaging his opponent, and not responding to the press.
FDG only won 2 years ago because there was a split on the other side of the aisle. There were plenty enough votes against him to make sure that he wouldn't win, if the votes were in line with each other. The fact is, that is exactly what they will be facing this year, and the fact that FDG and HB will be splitting the votes, however many FDG and crew can get to split off of the main pack to go to his group, will only be splitting the Democratic ticket votes. The fact is nobody who voted for McGarry and crew 2 years ago would have voted for DelGallo. Now, there will only be an option for splitting on the Democrat side. I see a landslide at the town level, and a questionable result at the County level, but it definitely looks as though that could also swing towards the Republican Party, at least in D4, and for the first time in a few years (I don't know the last time it happened), there will actually be more than one choice in the City at the City and County levels. One thing is for sure, it can only go well for the Republicans, as it can't get much worse than the current status quo.

That is not totally true. There were many many rotterdam reps and dems and blanks that would not support any candidate that backed rems. And ironically......both reps and democons did!! McGarry and the entire nntp slate was the 'only' rotterdam candidates that campaigned on 'no new taxing district'.
Now into the present.....it is clear that hb and the entire REUNITE ROTTERDAM slate supported a taxing district. They will also support a $14M+ public safety building that will take 400 years for the taxpayers in rotterdam to recoup. They will also support the consolidation of the town police departments with the city!! The town folk are really gonna go for that one!!! NOT!! And if EE is a party loyalist, she will resign before election day. Cause if she doesn't, she will be yet another nail in the REUNITE ROTTERDAM slate!

I don't want to let my personal feelings of adulation for Mr. Buffardi the man to cloud my judgement of him as a canidate. If you want to do me a favor please advise him and the rest of the Democratic team to put out some concrete statements on their positions so independents can make educated decisions. The democraps were out tonight in Carmen going door to door. Neighbors there felt the ring and run thing was a waste of paper and time. The common thread was "we can't afford another 2 years of these guys."

Well even though I am not a former legislator, my comments on I-talos were derived from a movie called "True Romance" in which Dennis Hopper's character gives the mouthful to erstwhile 'Sicilian' Christopher Walken on the racial makeup of the Sicilian people. Believe it or not some rotterdamians had some dem folks go to their door to sign petitions. When they were asked to sign for HB....some said....'who is he'??? Some rotterdamians never even heard of him!!! So much for name recognition!

In fact, our team ran into Mr. McGarry's people going door-to-door --- so rest assured our candidates are NOT pursuing a "rose garden" strategy. We are taking the campaign DIRECTLY to the voters.
