ROTTERDAM
Supervisor says taxpayers paying for law firm’s inaction

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.

The town of Rotterdam still lacks a billing contract with its not-forprofit ambulance company, and town Supervisor Frank Del Gallo is blaming the town’s privately contracted law firm for the delay.
Without an agreement in place, bill collectors with Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services Inc. can’t collect fees when town police offi cers/paramedics provide treatment during an ambulance call. Town Board members anticipated $100,000 in revenue from advanced life support billing in their 2011 budget.
Del Gallo said Daniels and Porco, the law firm hired by the board in March, hasn’t maintained a presence at Town Hall, despite his insistence that they be there 20 hours per week. As a result, he said important town business — like the ALS contract — has fallen to the wayside.
“You need a lawyer here,” said a visibly irate Del Gallo during the board’s agenda meeting Monday. “If they say they’re going to be here 20 hours a week, then they need to be here.”
Likewise, Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski blasted the law fi rm for not following explicit directions to maintain an offi ce in Town Hall. He said the fi rm was given the hours he and Del Gallo will be in their offices, but still haven’t made the effort to nail down regular hours.
“It was clearly laid out what our expectations were,” he said. “They didn’t deliver.” .................>>>>.....................>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01001&AppName=1

Come on FDG!  You and the Board were elected to make these contracts productive for the Town.  Ya ain't got the coconuts because REMs is a political puck that can garnish votes.  No action by YOU is a continued ALS bailout for REMs and is the same as buying REMs supporters votes.  You took this out of Eunie's play book, where you buy votes with handicap hang tags or other favors.  And this is another clear example as to why you are finished!  Hey how's the audit coming, LOL

             CANCEL their contract ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And do you think it will be any different if HB gets elected as rotterdam's super? He is a great supporter of REMS and the proposed taxing district!! HB will be no different then what rotterdam has right now!!!!!!

The 'bailout' will continue in rotterdam as long as the democons are in rotterdam!! That is the democon SCAM!! It's called 'fleecing the taxpayers' through the back door!! Kinda like they are doing with the awol town clerk and these numerous rotterdam town attorneys!!! And they say the last rotterdam administration was corrupt!! HOLY CRAP!! They pale in comparison!!  grrrrrrrrr >

HOW THE F IS THIS A BAILOUT FOR REMS!? You hate them! We get it! But seriously, it's not like rems is benefiting here...the only one benefiting from this is FDG and bob god they are doing this so later they can say I told you you shouldn't have anticipated 100K in ALS billing--we got $0. This is all nonsense, whether you like rems or hate them this isn't about them it's about the administration being defective!

Where is the ALS money that was promised the town when the deal with them was agreed to? The town should have signed an agreement with a more reputable EMS service, you know a service that can count and who keeps records.

there is no agreement...........why hasn't the supervisor provided a contract to be signed? They won the bid and still have yet to be given a contract and the only thing we hear is the administration saying the attorney isnt in the building and the attorney saying they locked us out of our offices...how about they both stop acting like children, draft a contract and give it to rems to sign so we can benefit by the revenue!?!?!?!?! This is absolutely ridiculous........

We all know that the present TB is incompetent so this should surprise no one that they never followed through with their end of the deal.

That's how you undercut the competition (Mohawk), you contiinue to RECEIVE and USE your UNAUTHORIZED subsidies!  WHAT A JOKE!  Now the budget will be screwed up because the ALS monies were to fund other line items.  I know Benny, "Working together Works.  Working together Works!", but this behavior is not what we expect from elected officials.  He!!, might as well join Eunie for all the good they're NOT doing . . . .

Maybe someone from REMS will show up with a big check at the next town board and dangle it  in front of FDG's face to get a contract

At least then we would know REMS is sincere about the town getting the ALS money

No contract, no checks = excuse for layoffs.

Explain how this would be different if Mohawk won the bid. It doesn't make sense the ALS money doesn't come from the ambulance company...They bill for it...If the administration and attorneys are bickering like children and can't present a contract to rems what makes you think itd be different if mohawk was there??????? Or do you just think mohawk would be writing a check out of the goodness of their hearts and dipping into their bottom line?
