[color=red][/colorMcDonald = Bruno, the 'new math' for Saratoga County.  Former Republican Senator Joseph Bruno's name is popping up in regards to an IDA boondoggle.  Another $50,000 destined for a rat hole.

For free I will give you the secret formula for economic development;  Lower taxes, reduce regulations, minimize the number & structure of government.

In 2002 as a Republican Candidate for the 106th Assembly District (river communities) I attended a strategy meeting in Saratoga Springs.  At the time the state had raised a 'small' business fee from $70 - $200.  Such fees sustain agencies staffed by 'patronage' people.  In defense of most in attendance, we were horrified Republicans, Bruno was behind this fee increase.  A fee is a tax by another name.  The representative from Bruno's office said, "this is not a tax, it is a fee".  I asked the Bruno representative if he was a Republican or Democrat.  As Roy McDonald has demonstrated, there is no difference.  The issue in 2002 was a fee, now it is the redefinition of marriage but the game is the same.

Being seduced by Bruno 'charm' & McDonald duplicity has allowed the wolf to sleep with the sheep.  The feeding frenzy never ends.

Politicians are wolves, a wolf cannot help himself.  Wolves & politicians are predatory.

New York State is in political & economic gridlock.  The wolf packs are strong, the people (sheep) are incapable of defending themselves.  A variation of the Stockholm Syndrome exist here.  One identifies with their captors.  The only practical defense is disregard party affiliation.  Vote for the individual', make them answer questions, ignore polls & disregard negative advertising.  Eventually the pack will become disoriented & democracy will return to NYS.  Till then, keep paying those fees.

It really matters very little what party you belong to at the state level. There is just the party of the politically connected and they act for their own benefit, often against the interest of their constituents.
You raise an interesting idea, that variant of the Stockholm Syndrome. Andrew Cuomo announces layoffs of the state employees, as if they are all lyingaround collecting a salary for doing nothing, and the people who will be negatively impacted by the cutbacks cheer him on. Yet he is blatantly handing out higher paying positions to the connected, and people do not seem able to connect the two. Close prisons? Do we really have too many prisons? Why do we constantly see dangerous felons let out early due to overcrowding if there are too many prisons? He says prisons shouldn't exist to employ people. I thought they existed as a way for the taxpayers to be safe in their communities. And I don't see the unionized prison employees as a drain on the taxpayer. They are providing a service which they have a right to be paid for. I wouldn't want that job, would you? But Cuomo serves up this schtick to the public and they eat it up. Maybe they really believe that people like Brian Stratton and Sue Savage are some sort of superior beings, entitled to rule over us all by virtue of their natural greatness.
