Sad part is, people actually watch that and believe it is insightful. Maher is suggesting the middle class can only exist with government programs to take care of the middle class. That's the big lie that some younger Americans are beginning to wake up to. People are sick and tired of being used as pawns by politicians telling them that their existence and livelihood depends on these social programs. That argument is BS.
The fact is, the baby boomers lived high on the hog for most of the active lives. The spent-spent-spent, debt-debt-debt, and money was no object. Now this next generation is being told they must lower their living standards in order to pay off the unsustainable debt run up by the generation of decadence.
The new political schism in America isn't conservative - liberal, but rather boomer - generation x. It's a generational divide that neither party knows how to handle. |
