I don't like Perry much but he did the right thing here. This man received a fair trial and he was found guilty, his crime was punishable by death and that is what he got.

America used to live up to it's agreements, especially the ones that we proposed like this one.

One guilty man was executed... and those3500 Americans who were helped by this treaty last year and those in the future will pay the price for his execution.
Just a dumb move... but the bloodthirsty crowd got their revenge... and the Texan might gain a few votes for President.

...oooohhhh dear me oh my. Boo hoo.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

If any country wants to b**ch about this case then all we should do is show them the pictures of this girls head smash to pulp with a piece of concrete. This man received a fair trial unlike he would have got in most countries. The video below which is very GRAPHIC shows how others deal with criminals, no trial, no jury, no reading of their rights but we our the animals in the eyes of the UN

Didn't see that crap coming

Once again... this issue isn't about some Mexican criminal being executed... The REAL issue is how Americans will be treated in the future because of it.

I don't give a damn about the execution... I'm sure he probably got a fair trial and good representation at that trial.
BUT
When an innocent American comes before some backwoods judge in some third world country, the ONLY thing that may save them from a similar sentence is the agreement that Texas just ignored.
If that pact had not been in place, 3500 Americans who benefited from it LAST YEAR might today be in a prison for life... or have been executed.

All the macho "hang em high" is really brave here on this message board... but that behavior may have just sealed the fate of thousands of INNOCENT Americans arrested abroad, who will now spend the rest of their life in jail because of it.

Just plain dumb!

When you go to another country you better know damn well their rules and punishments, our embassies do not protect our civilians when in other countries and they do not have any say on how they deal with their criminals. Embassies will only act as a line of communication to the US and their families, they may hold talks or make deals but there is nothing in writing that they can help you.

According to Graham's original post:

In Geneva, the U.N.'s top human rights official said Leal's execution amounted to a breach of international law by the U.S.
And
The U.S. government sought a stay of Leal's execution in order to give the Congress time to act on the Consular Notification Compliance Act, which would have provided Leal the judicial review required by international law.

"If we don't protect the rights of non-Americans in the United States, we seriously risk reciprocal lack of access to our own citizens overseas.   We've got to treat non-Americans properly here if we expect to be able to help our citizens overseas."

Again, this issue isn't about executing a criminal... it's about protecting Americans (often unjustly) accused of crimes abroad.

The UN has no say on this issue especially when it comes to our sovereignty on state issues such as capital punishment. This killer received a fair trial and that is all that matters, if anything they should be using this as an example to show how a civilized country works. A fair trial is the only thing the UN should be concerned about and we did just that.

OK, One more time then I'll drop it.
I don't care about the UN.
I don't care that this guilty guy was executed.
I don't even care (in this case) if he got a fair trial.

The USA has a fair judicial system.  It makes mistakes but overall it's fair.  Many countries have very unfair judicial systems, or almost no system at all.  The law of the land is what ever the judge happens to make up for the day... or what ever a religious cleric decides it should be.

Since the VICTIM of this type of justice will most likely be AMERICANS (people I do care about), and since the USA is the country that proposed this agreement to help OUR CITIZENS... it would seem to be in our interest to abide by an agreement that mostly helps American citizens.

You state:
" A fair trial is the only thing the UN should be concerned about and we did just that"
America will give foreigners a fair trial... Again that's the part you keep missing...
OTHER COUNTRIES WON'T, and that's why this agreement is important.

Boo-hoo Justice was served! Despite Obama's meddling in the State's affairs. Can't wait to hear Box on Obama's Operation Gun Running. Obama officials allowed Mexican gangs to get guns which were used in the murder of a US official. Start impeachment today! That's were this is heading.

Yeah no kidding, anyone involved in that ATF fck up should be charged with murder. What's even worse is how Mexico was blaming our 2nd Amendment for their problems when it was our government all along. This almost seemed like a way to cause a big enough crisis to infringe on our 2nd Amendment.
