Oh...here is what the best did...

"Leal was sentenced to death for the 1994 murder of 16-year-old Adria Sauceda, whose brutalized nude body was found hours after he left a San Antonio street party with her. She was bludgeoned with a piece of 30- to 40-pound chunk of asphalt."

Great... they executed a guy.  And... what effect will this have on Americans who get in trouble with the law abroad???

Because of this man was executed, instead of given life in prison, many Americans who get in trouble with the law in foreign countries will pay the price.

Way to go Texas.

Huh??  You draw some wacky conclusions.  Foreign nations that are anti death penalty will now overturn the collective will of their society and start executing Americans because of what happened in Texas?  These foreign nations you speak of must have shallow convictions about the death penalty if that is all it takes to overturn their penal system.

You guys should really do your homework before you post.

This isn't just another death penalty case.  This case is tied to government extradition agreements around the world.
If the USA doesn't abide by these agreements, it will open the door for other countries to do the same.
This execution may endanger Americans who are charged with questionable crimes, or in questionable circumstances, and (because of this execution) these Americans may be denied help from the USA and it's consulates.

Read the link that Graham posted.

First - The guy lived in America for 20 years.  Second - Obviously HE wasn't aware he was eligible for help from the Mexican government.  Third - Why is it the polices responsibility to make a foreign national(who lived in America for 20 years) aware of their international rights?

If an American family moves to Columbia with their toddler, and then 20 years later that toddler that is now 21 murders a person in Columbia, I would have no problem if that American was convicted with the crime without Columbian authorities informing the person they have a right to U.S. extradition laws.  First because he is unaware of his rights, and second because he lived in Columbia for 20 f'n years.

The Governor should be removed.  He politicized that and has made potential trouble for other Americans abroad.  Box is right.  Not to mention the guy might have been innocent.  Not to mention--there is something wrong with a country that kills its citizens.  Did you know the company that made the drug used for lethal injection that was made here in the US was moved to Italy.  Italians objected to it and the drug, which has no shelf life, stopped being made.

Of c ourse he would yell Viva Mexico--looked who was killing him....US!

What do you think the teenager was yelling while this guy was raping and eventually murdered her?  Ah, who cares, this is all about extradition law, and the rights of this poor poor Mexican.  Who gives a sh*t about the dead girl and her family?

Dittos from Orlando. The President must be removed. He cares more about apologies and appeasement than justice. If he had his way Mexican law would be binding in this country. Sharia law would be binding in this country. His two Supreme Court picks are both horrible. Gov Perry has just vaulted to the head of the REP pack. BTW, did you hear about the Obama administration allowing illegal gun sales to Mexican gangs? Another scandal for the apologist in chief.

Before Leal Garcia's trial, Texas authorities failed to inform him of his right to speak with officers from the Mexican consulate and failed to inform the consulate that a Mexican national had been arrested.
Both of those failures violated a 1963 treaty signed by the U.S. Indeed, the consular access provision was added to the treaty at the insistence of the United States.

The U.S. relies on the treaty to secure legal help and often to win release of Americans imprisoned abroad, some in countries such as Iran, Libya and Syria. Last year alone the U.S. invoked the treaty for 3,500 Americans imprisoned in other countries.

Texas has created more jobs in the past year than the rest of the States combined.

I don't like Perry much but he did the right thing here. This man received a fair trial and he was found guilty, his crime was punishable by death and that is what he got.
