Although I agree the only way to deal with this debt is a combo of significant spending cuts, including pet programs, and tax increases, lets be honest, all these polls are saying is that the American people support raising OTHER peoples taxes. It doesn't take much courage to say that. Ask them if they would support say, an 50 cent per gallon increase in the gas tax for infrastructure, and see what the results would be.. The drivers would be against and the non-drivers would be for it. And you would have protests in the streets if you suggested a 10% across the board increase on all income levels.
It's classic NIMBY-ism and soak the rich. I'm not saying it shouldn't happen, but lets not give Americans credit for something they don't deserve.

Apparently the majority of the folks that really support higher taxes are the folks that don't pay them!! They live OFF of them.
