but the Gay Marrage law concerns what Cicero fears most... F R E E D O M for ALL AMERICANS!

Box, I can't wait to hear you champion marriage licenses and F R E E D O M for polygamist and consensual incest marriage.  I'm assuming you consider them part of "ALL AMERICANS"  America must pass laws freeing these Americans and allowing them the same rights as everybody else.  Oh...And by the way, within this new law, certain religious organization can chose to discriminate against these otherwise free Americans and not perform the ceremony and issue the states license.  Free at last...Free At Last...

You are not truly free until the state licenses you.

Again Cicero wants to LIMIT F R E E D O M!
No religious group would be FORCED to preform a ceremony that their religion objects to.  F R E E D O M!

Cicero would prefer the "good old days" when you could go to jail for interracial marriages.
Is it F R E E D O M he hates or is it just his plain old fashioned bigotry?

If it walks like a duck,
quacks like a duck,
looks like a duck,
You know the drill... It's a duck.

  Same goes for bigots.

Cicero hates it when Racists are called Racist;
when Bigots are called Bigots.
He'd rather that they are protected by some Right Wing Logic that promotes racism and bigotry... while it protect the bigot & the racist.

Bigot and Racist in the same post?  WOW!!!  And you're early...I need to reset my clock.

Box still doesn't understand the logic that if the state wasn't involved in licensing marriage, interracial, gay, and other marriages between two consenting adults wouldn't be an issue.  It would be a private contract between two consenting adults.  That would be true freedom.  But the statists like box can't take a $hit without having his government masters licensing it.

And Cicero doesn't understand that two consenting adults can live together in a lasting relationship with or without a marriage license, a priest, a minister or a rabbi.

When they do, the Christian Right (remember Cicero thinks that America is a Christian Nation) will condemn them as immoral, harass them and try to pass laws against them.

Then why all the hub-bub about gay marriage if they didn't need a marriage license?  I never once said - EVER - that I agree with passing any law that would prohibit behavior between consenting adults.  As a matter of fact, I consistently say the opposite.  You, in classing box form, pulled that out of thin air.  You Box, believe that it is the STATE that can license and prohibit behavior between two consenting adults.

And again, box making stuff up, I never made a claim that America is a Christian nation. Why am I not surprised box would attempt to put words in my mouth?

The public educators have done a great job with you box; you are a totalitarian statist that is unable to comprehend liberty and freedom, without authorization from the state.  Which by definition isn't liberty or freedom, when you must get permission from the government in the form of a license.

The 'hub-bub about gays is from the Right, not from the Left.

The Right is promoting laws banning gay marriage, not the Left.
The Right is citing anti-gay laws that have been on the books for over 100 years... not the Left.
The Right is the Homophobic anti Gay party... the Left is the party of F R E E D O M for all Americans.

Well, I guess I'm not the "right".  Again, you are missing the point.  Licensing gay marriage isn't the F R E E D O M solution, un-licensing all marriage IS the solution.  If people were allowed to make their own PERSONAL choices without the requirement of a state license, this would be a non issue.

The fact is, if the state didn't issue a license and people were actually free to enter into any consenting relationship, bomb throwers like Box wouldn't be able to polarize the country by pigeonholing groups as either being "right" or "left" or "anti-gay" or "pro-gay".  And this isn't specific to the "liberal" or "conservative" in the political class, they both do it.

Box can't help himself, it is all he knows.  I say time and time again that I don't care if gays marry or not, nor do I want to pass any laws making it illegal, it's none of my or the states business.  Just like I don't care if heterosexuals marry or not,  it isn't my or the states business.  Those are personal choices, between two consenting adults.  Yet box needs to put me into a category of either "conservative" or "right wing" so he can use me to set up his straw man arguments.  It's pretty pathetic and small minded.

People ARE free to enter into any consenting relationship... (Except a few such as incest).  The Conservative laws against homosexuality have been, for the most part, repealed or ignored.
Civil rights for minorities existed with the Constitution of the United States...
BUT
It took a hundred years before the legal system enforced the Constitution and addressed segregation.
Similarly, the right to gay marriage has always been a right in the US.  As the last civil right, gay marriage is just now going to be enforced as a human right.

You wouldn't need enforcement if statist like yourself were not compelled to write laws to prohibit personal behavior.  A violation of human rights is a violation of personal liberty.  Whether gay marriage is licensed by the state or not, a person or government doesn't have the right to violate human rights.  The reason for this gay marriage issue is due to the fact a state license for heterosexual marriage afforded certain benefits of the state, that gay couples were denied.  If people read and understood the Constitution, we wouldn't vote in legislators that would write laws prohibiting personal behavior like homosexuality, and Supreme Court Justices wouldn't consider these laws Constitutional.

Again, I went over this before, segregation was due to state laws FORCING private property owners to practice segregation, which is just as bad as the state forced integration, that is an equal violation of personal liberties and property rights.

That's why we live in the land of special interests, because Americans believe in empowering the state to grant special rights and provide special favor, whether social or economic.  People view the state as the facilitator of our freedom and liberty, instead of viewing the state as the protector of freedom and liberty that we already have.

Don't bother trying to get through to him.  I stated that I'm opposed to state licensed marriage for heterosexuals in a previous post, and he claimed that by opposing state licensing I must then support incest and the marrying of minors.  There really is no logic with Box.  I'm surprised Box didn't call me a heterophobe.
