And now the assessor is handing out tax breaks as repayment!! Ya just can't make this stuff up!!
The amendments to the budget AT the board meeting were made because Frank DelGallo and Bob Godlewski refused to work with ALL of the members of the board in preparing the budget. Don't forget Bob Godlewski and Frank DelGallo wanted to give us a 7% TAX INCREASE -- thank God that Martin, DiLeva and Parisi put a stop to that.
The new attorneys were necessitated because Frank DelGallo and Bob Godlewski refused to see that their choice for Town Attorney was in way over his head.
As for the tax settlement - no one was "handed" any settlement -- the issue was about to go to litigation and the town would have lost the case due to the way the previous assessor MISHANDLED the assessment --I objected to the tax settlement being placed on the agenda as a Consent Item but will refrain from makingany further comments on the settlement because I have not heard all of the information.

I help pay the taxes and I know what are assessed value was BEFORE and AFTER the reval -- and the assessed value AFTER the reval better reflects the actual value of the property. We have had a number of offers to purchase our property - both before and after the reval. We have turned them all down.

you don't pay high taxes because your property is assessed high (if in proportion with other property's in the town) you pay high taxes because of budgets, if all the assessments go down, BFD! The tax rate per 1000 just goes up due to the BUDGET, and for what it is worth, 60% or so is SCHOOL budget, look into reducing cost of these school and see your taxes drop
