We need an electrician for a couple of minor issues.  Must have experience in 110v and 12v - and be licensed in NY.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I'd recommend the guy that put in my auto-backup generator.
The guy's a real straight shooter, one of the last of the Mohicans.

The guy saved me at least a grand.

The whole thing cost much less than you see on the commercials, though I did have it done before it was trendy.

His last name is Walter, He's at 377-2373, and is a pleasure to deal with.

out your life, are you a professional douche nozzle, or is it just a hobby?
You seem to be merely a very bitter person, with too much time on their hands.

PHONE BOOK? YOU'RE SO WITTY! I JUST CAN'T STOP LAUGHUING!

At you.

Try Angies List.  There are a lot of them in there that are from the area and you can see what recommendations they come with.

Angies list is heavily peppered, as is Consumer Reports.

What pray tell would motivate somebody, to pay money to tell the world about the exhilarating experience they had with the guy that just unclogged their toilet?

Years ago, I was an assistant manager of a hardware store, and some smart shopper came in, showed me a copy of Consumer Reports, as they were in the market for a new lawn mower.
They were just shopping around.
I, not giving a rat'sass (not working on commission), just told them, that their number one rated mower, was the same exact mower as this one, that was rated number 15.
They were both just Husqvarna, but with different stickers, and yeah, they could get the same exact thing at the Sears, but it would be more expensive.

The guy took pictures, wrote down every number and anything else he could glean about the thing, looked at me warily, and said that, maybe, he would be back.

Two hours later, he came back saying "Sears, what a ripoff, and this dumb magazine isn't much better".

Angies list is not all that different.
Friends and neighbors recommending people first hand, based on their own experience, is not how Angie's list  pays for all those commercials.

It has always amazed me how gullible people can be.

BUT I SAW IT ON THE TEE VEE!

Which may very well explain why a big bunch of mouth breathers still watch Fox News.
They think it's true, because the burning bush told them so, and it doesn't challenge their limited sensibilities.

We've located a local electrician (And Ron, by LOCAL, I mean a Rotterdam based professional) - he'll be here in the morning.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

You mean you didn't get him from Wynantskill, Fonda or Great Barrington?
