What amazes me is that FDG doesn't have the cajones to tell BG to shut up. FDG is the supervisor, but it's so obvious BG pulls the string like a little puppetmaster.

When will FDG grow a pair?

During privilege of the floor, speakers are asked to address the council, not individual members.

Aren't those on the government body supposed to refrain from responding during the privilege of the floor to
statements and questions stated by the public?  Was Matt Martin out of order when he responded to several
residents during their comments?

For this board, yes.  Previous administrations (I know at least during Tommasone's administration) would be able to speak to you about issues.  I wonder, does everybody still submit their questions in advance so the board can study up on them, or did they get that out of their system at this point?

Love his cut signals-is he directing a movie or the worst legislative body in the State? These DEM morons don't even know what hearsay is. HINT-It's not when the person actually heard the statements in question. DVR is right there like a clapping seal approving yet another hack appointment. Absolute comedy-DEM fascism. If anyone dares to disagree-unplug the mic and call the RPD.

There is no official rule that says whether or not a the members of the government body should or should not respond to statements and questions during the privilege of the floor.
However, it is considered good practice to NOT respond to statements ..  and by response I include verbal responses or even non-verbal reactions such as facial expressions.
Whether to respond to questions is another matter -- I don't see a problem with answering a question. In fact, I believe that too often the town board (this one and past ones) just ignored the legitimate and "non-threatening" questions of the public.  To sit there in "dumb silence" when a resident asks a simple question and wants a simple answer --- is highly inappropriate.  (IMHO)

As for the board which left office on December 31, 2009, they were not immune from inappropriately responding to statements from the residents.    In fact,  I can recall a few occasions when Mr. Tomassone or Mr. Mertz would excoriate a resident .. and at least one occasions where that prat, Mertz, misunderstood a woman's comments (she actually supported his idea) and he "ripped her a new one" because he thought that she had disagreed with one of his ideas.

Your question is the same one that myself and many members of the Democratic Committee have been asking ourselves for over a year now.   And, that is why a majority of the Democratic Committee voted to endorse someone else for Town Supervisor this year.

It was a combination of factors - but bottom-line the Supervisor is an adult and he has to take responsibility for a number of bad decisions that he made and stubbornly resisted any attempts by MANY others to help him.  The first bad decision was refusing to work with the WHOLE team and shutting everyone out except for the Deputy Supervisor and his Confidential Secretary.

R’dam Deputy Super calls cops on resident at meeting
John Purcell 05/26/11

The Rotterdam Town Board meeting last night, Wednesday, May 26, ended with flashing lights outside of Town Hall.

Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski called the town police after resident Kelly Rhinesmith called Supervisor Frank Del Gallo a “colossal liar” during the privilege of the floor at the end of the meeting. After Rhinesmith continued to make accusatory statements towards the board, with Del Gallo telling her to leave, Godlewski walked off to make the call. The incident lasted around 3 minutes from the first remark until Rhinesmith stopped talking.

“She is out of order with those type of comments. You have to tell her to not make those types of comments,” said Godlewski to Del Gallo after Rhinesmith’s initial comment. Godlewski said to Rhinesmith that the board doesn’t have to listen to the “rude comments” she expressed.

After about 2 minutes of comments from Rhinesmith, some board members started talk amongst themselves on how to deal with the situation. She continued to directly address members of the board as Godlewski got up with a mobile phone in hand and left the room to call the police.

Before Godlewski returned, DiLeva requested to adjourn the meeting. Rhinesmith then stopped addressing the board. Shortly after DiLeva's request the meeting ended.

A police car pulled up, with a total of four arriving, shortly after residents were leaving Town Hall. Rhinesmith did approach police and talk to them before driving off the property.

“She was asked to leave and she left, no charges were filed,” said Lt. Jason Murphy on Thursday, May 26.

Rhinesmith was accusing Del Gallo of claiming he would for wait for Councilwoman Nicola DiLeva to arrive at the board’s Wednesday, May 11, meeting before a vote was taken on awarding the ambulance service contract. The board didn’t call a recess that night, proceeding without DiLeva, before voting to award Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services the ambulance service provider contract with the town.

After viewing this video, there is only ONE person that should have been taken away in hand cuffs.......and that is the female who actually got up and tried to unplug the microphone!!! Rotterdam hit an all time low with that stunt. And the worse part is that NOT ONE elected official told the 'unplug female' to STOP!!!

It is apparent that all the rotterdam town board had to do, was 'not to engage in bantering with kr'. They should have just let her speak until she was done!! KR may be 'unconventional', but she clearly touched on a nerve with this bunch. It looked BG was going to pass out. His face got as white as snow. It appears that KR caught this bunch in a lie and exposed it.

Nah....BG called the cops on the wrong person. And the rotterdam tb told the wrong person to leave. This should have been directed at the 'unplug female'. THAT was beyond shameful!!

VIVA REVITALIZE ROTTERDAM and the new democon RE-UNITE ROTTERDAM!!!!
