As for the "hate crime" argument, I can see not many of you understand what a hate crime is. If I walk down the street, select a person at random and beat him(or her) within an inch of death, that is assault. If I walk down the street with a gang of white people, target a person at random and we all beat the guy(or girl) into next week, that is gang assault.
...
Hate Crime legislation was enacted because of pressure from minority and special interest groups. Its all so politicians can pat themselves on their backs. Same thing goes for laws named after crime victims. A crime is a crime, it shouldn't matter what the reason was for it. I like to have supporters of hate crime legislation explain to a family of a non-hate crime victim, why the crime perpetrated on their loved one is any less serious or tragic than one based on hate.

Hack, explain away the fact the McDonalds workers and manager watched while the beating went on for 3+ minutes? The black male filming and the black male manager couldn't protect this transgender person from the 14 year old and 18 year old girls? Then the man filming said she was going into seizures and alerted the young girls the police were on there way and that they better stop beating her.
Wow! Now we have Box AND Hack turning the victim into the perpetrator. The 18 year old has a prior criminal record for assault and 'Chrissy' was not "particularly liked", now makes 'Chrissy' the provocateur. What kind of upside down world do you live in?
Probably in the same world that demonized privileged white boys (Duke Lacrosse team) in favor of a stripper (Crystal Mangum) before a trial... except that trial never happened because the account was made up and pushed by a now disbarred DA.. BTW, that poor, taken advantage of stripper is soon to be on trial for murder after stabbing her boyfriend to death... Probably not her fault either in this world

Read these posts and see how many of them are about assault and how many are about race.
The video is promoted to further an agenda, and that agenda isn't about crime... it's about race.

Just like the Rodney King video, and Duke Lacrosse team...

Rodney King??? Really?
Rodney King was beaten by the LAPD. Not a group of strangers, but by an arm of OUR government. TBird sees the McDonalds assault the same as the Rodney King assault. He sees no difference. For TBird, there is no point in continuing... for the rest of us, there is a huge difference between three civilians in a fight, and an assault by the Police.

Yes, because we all know, if it were 2 white women beating a black transgender women, filmed by a white male worker with a white male store manager watching and enabling it, this would just be a simple assaut and NOOOOOO talks of racial motivation. The media would try to tie it into some kind of manifestation of violence do to the racist tea party and Fox News rhetorical commentary opposing Obama policies. Because we all know, if you oppose Obama policy, it's because you're a racist.

No Cicero... not everyone, just you!

King was beaten by WHITE cops, if it were black cops, the story would NEVER have gotten national attention...I can't figure out if you just gloss over things you don't want to talk about, or are just plain stupid.

Two of the LAPD cops who beat King eventually went to jail for 30 months... the others were acquitted. The story doesn't end there... because of the King beating, policy at the LAPD changed about their use of force.
Racial attacks happen every day in this country... the King beating was notable because it was a branch of our government, the LAPD, doing the beating.

It was notable because someone filmed it and a TV station got its hands on it. Also notable were the riots that happened after the first trial, where they all were acquitted. Although the press did, you should not blame the jury. The prosecutors overcharged the officers and did not allow lesser convictions to be brought back.

I guess some human beings are more important than others. To bad all crimes are not treated equally but they aren't. So many times those in the minority have their cases dismissed or even dropped because of their beliefs.
I hope he is ok. So what if he cross dresses. If he propositioned them there still is no right to beat someone the way they did. i don't hear of prostitutes in the known areas of Schenectady where a person can find prostitutes getting beaten up this way, for solicitation, and there are cross dresser there too.
Bottom line no one has a right to savagely beat anyone at any time.

On this we agree.

Italways pisses me off when people mention the Duke Lacrosse team. I KNOW THOSE BOYS. I knew THEN that it was a crock. And yet those young men had their lives and lacrosse careers turned upside down over that incident. And by the way a two bit tramp is a two bit tramp whether she is white or black. I am probably the most liberal person on this board and the ONLY one who stands up for what is right no matter who are what is involved. Bringing up the lacrosse incident is unnecessary with regard to the McDonald's incident.
