A crowd of half a dozen protesters concerned with the Wikileaks story disrupted the Obama event at the St. Regis Hotel, with Oakland activist Naomi Pitcairn organizing the event for the group which calls itself freshjuiceparty.com; she personally paid $76,000 total for tickets for the group to gain entry to the high priced fundraiser, she told us.

The progressive group protested what they called the inhumane treatment of Pvt. Bradley Manning in the Wikileaks case. Their protest song — which included lyrics: “We paid our dues..where’s our change?” — was sung in its entirety for Obama, who thanked them at the end of the a capella performance.

Outside, the group said that they were progressives who had worked for Obama and voted for him in 2008, but who were disappointed not only with Manning's treatment, but with Obama's policies on war as well.

A video file Private Manning is accused of leaking -  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CollateralMurder.ogv

Manning found the Apache helicopter video.- "At first glance it was just a bunch of guys getting shot up by a helicopter. No big deal ... about two dozen more where that came from, right? But something struck me as odd with the van thing, and also the fact it was being stored in a JAG officer’s directory. So I looked into it. "

Actually Bumble, the Obama/Bush comparison is skewed by the Sept11th bump.

President Barack Obama is much closer to approval ratings of Ronald Reagan.

In March of 1983, the 27th month of Reagan’s presidency, the Gallup poll showed that 41 percent of Americans approved of the job he was doing, while 49 percent disapproved.

Obama, by comparison, is doing better. The latest Gallup Daily Tracking Poll shows that 49 percent of Americans approve of the job he’s doing, while 43 percent disapprove. (March 20th, 2011)

Actually the last positive poll Box could find is over a month old.
TODAY'S Tracking POLL [4/22/11] Approve-47%/Disapprove-53%

Here's another indicator Direction of Country [CBS/NYT 4/21/11] Right Direction 26%/Wrong Track 70%!

Another war for oil?
As gas/food prices continue to explode and salaries remain stagnant Rotsa Ruck with your re-election!

Thanks for those updated approval numbers Benny.
I used the polling found in this article which is a month old:
http://blogs.e-rockford.com/ap.....approval-comparison/

With your UPDATED Obama approval poll of 47%, he's still 8% above the Almighty Ronald Reagan's approval of 41%.
Obama would still have to lose another 24% before he comes close to the George Worst Bush Record Low Approval Ratings.

Both Reagan and Obama have high unemployment, but Obama has finally gained on the Bush Economic Meltdown Unemployment of 9.8% to a present level below 9%, while Reagan's was holding steady at 10% unemployment.

The country IS heading in the wrong direction, but more Americans blame the majority Republican Congress then they do the President.

The Party of NO has done a fine job of fighting against Social Security, Medicare, and Planned Parenthood since being elected in November, but WHERE OH WHERE IS THE REPUBLICAN JOBS BILL???
Anyone???
Bueller???
   Anyone???

You have to go to Illinois for some positive Obama news? The one State he might carry for re-election. Emphasis on might. Where is the Obama jobs bill? Right the great stimulus package which added trillions to the debt.

Reread the first article. Hispanics have had enough. Liberal DEMS have had enough. We saw the same thing when he came to the GE Turbine Plant. DEM protests and that was before Libya and $4 gas. Another war for oil? No energy policy. A joke foreign policy. And in New Hampshire Romney whips Obama.

IMO, with out a major gaff, Obama will be reelected in 2012.  With the present probably GOP candidates Obama will likely win.

A new face in the Republican party... some one with out all the Palin/Paul/Gingrich/Trump etc.  baggage might have a chance, but so far no NEW Republican candidate has surfaced.  A 'new' Republican may have a chance to win if he's a 'moderate' and draws disgruntled Democrats and Independents.

The present GOP candidates won't defeat Obama, but Obama can defeat himself with serious errors.

Americans vote their wallets, always have, always will.
On election day, If Gas is above $4 a gallon, unemployment is 8% or worse, and the GOP nominates someone like Pawlenty or Romney, Obama is toast.

If the GOP nominates a extreme social candidate and people feel things are considerably better than they are now, Obama will win.

Ron Paul is the only viable candidate.

And if the tea party folks were really a mixture of dems and reps, and were really sick and tired of the same old same old in government, they would have rallied behind Ron Paul.............not the other nitwits!

The Tea Party is the Far Right of the Republican Party.  Except for it's very beginning, there were never any real centrists or Democrats in it.

Tea Party favorites are to the Right of mainstream Republicans.  The main threat of the TP isn't to Democrats, it's to splitting Republican votes.

when a new political movement happens, more often than The PR gets hijacked by the extremes, which in turn, diminishes the actual goals of the movement
