Raspy.........I believe it is mac being discussed. JM and CL haven't been around in a few years. HOWEVER....rotterdamians worst nightmere is back and not by popular demand!!! Mac was a disaster during and after the reval. Talk about fair?? Atleast JM and CL did their job, unlike Mac! It's sad that it has come to this. I thought Tracy was going to do a fine job, but based on the allegations it seems this meeting was illegal. I am skeptical of some of GP's claims about certain committeemen not being on the committee, but the notice argument seems cut and dry. It was postmarked 5 days before the meeting when it had to be received 5 days before the meeting. I think Tracy should do the right thing: Admit the committee acted wrongly...call it a mistake, an error, an oversight, whatever...call off the meeting, properly notice a second meeting, get enough proxies at the meeting and redo it. Everyone will be happy. The public will know that a fair vote took place...and the public will know they have a chair willing to stand up for what is right.
I reallly hope the committee doesn't try to defend their actions... Admit the mistake and move on...Unless... is it possible... they CAN'T get a quorum because the majority of the committee doesn't support the ticket? If that is the case then I definitely applaud GP...If they did this in order to slam through an unpopular ticket, that would be very sad and quite disappointing.
Tracy you are a fine chair, and a finer woman do the right thing: call another meeting cross the T's dot the I's and prove that your candidates have the support of the committee...AND prove to the community at large that you have the integrity I know you have to stand up for what is right instead of what is convenient.
According to our town by-laws a quorum is calculated as the total number of committe ppl divided by two plus one. We had 17 valid committee ppl at the mtg, one choose to vote by proxy instead of in person. So we had 16 ppl and 9 proxy votes. One of our committee people passed away recently and another resigned on April 2nd. 25 votes is enough for a quorum.
In regards to notice: The town meeting will be called only by notice in writing received at the "post office" at least 5 days in advance of such a meeting.
