I interpret that the part of the brain found in conservatives being larger is not based on fear but common sense and that seems to be lacking in the liberal part of the brain.

I will consider your vast scientific experience in the field when I evaluate the article.  Thanks for your input.

Box, if you bothered to read my first post, I said it will take more than taxing the rich.
Higher taxes and reduced spending on EVERYONE are what is needed to fix this mess.
You talk about the two wars, which definitely added to the debt, but you make NO mention about what 3 items take up the 3 MOST expensive parts of our budget..entitlement programs..the liberals nirvana... SS, Medicare and Medicaid. You also make no mention about Obamas contribution to the debt or why the dollar isn't worth squat because Obama lets the Fed print more dollars like toilet paper.
You can take all of the Pentagon budget off the table tomorrow and still have a huge problem unless you take on those big three. We have too many (1 in 6 Americans NOT including SS) on the public teet without enough workers to pay for it. We as a society, encourage people that have NO business popping out kids because they have NO means to support them, to continue to do it. It makes no sense. You have Politicians who won't do anything about any of it because they are afraid of the next election cycle. I am a fiscal conservative and social moderate by nature, but what has to be done to fix this, needs to be done. Box, go check with the DNC on how to craft your response.

Box,
You also make no mention about Obamas contribution to the debt
.

Really??? I didn't???
How about:
Our debt grew under Reagan/Bush... leveled off and fell under Clinton, then skyrocketed under Bush and now continues under Obama.
Did ya miss that part???

Your picture is worth a thousand words, too bad it didn't tell the entire story.

Why not go back to when the USA was a superpower, and super economy...  the 50's 60's 70's & into the 80's.  What was the top tax rate then???  The USA was doing well then and so were the billionaires and millionaires.
Since then they have gotten richer, paid for with tax cuts and borrowing to pay for those cuts.

WHY NOT BRING THE TOP TAX RATE BACK TO WHERE IT WAS WHEN REAGAN TOOK OFFICE, OR WHEN CARTER TOOK OFFICE, OR WHEN NIXON TOOK OFFICE.
The reason the USA is broke is in the graph... the middle class is being taxed to pay for the tax cuts to the rich.

To get a true picture of the actual rate, you have to go far beyond just simple income tax rate and include state income taxes, Capital gains, sales taxes, gas taxes, real estate taxes. etc.
I'm not saying the top income tax bracket rate shouldn't be increased, but to do what some liberals want and push it to 80% is economic suicide. Businesses and the rich are much more global than they were even in the 80's. To say the middle class are paying for the tax cuts for the rich is just plain, tired class envy. They got tax cuts too, but not as much as the rich.
We have MANY people on SS now that are getting multiple times back in cash than they paid in. With the ratio of collectors and contributors as it is now, SS is NOT sustainable. It was never intended to be a sole means of retirement income...the liberals just made people believe it.

Warren Buffet, one of the riches men in America thinks that the Rich are paying too little tax.  Warren paid 17.7% on the $46 million he made, without trying to avoid paying higher taxes.
His secretary, who earned $60,000, was taxed at 30%.
Both Warren and his secretary had their taxes done taking every allowable deduction but no creative accounting to reduce their tax.
15 people in Warrens office, from secretaries to lawyers all pay a higher tax rate than Warren.

Warren (and lots of others) see this for what it is... The Middle Class subsidizing the Rich.

And yet Box only a handful in Washington is serious about controlling the spending. You may wish to tax more but that will do nothing if we can't make the cuts that are necessary. Conservatives wish to cut in order to spend what we take in only through taxes, the big government politicians which make up both parties don't wish to cut anything serious so nothing will ever get done until it collapses.

Raising taxes now would kill us Box, with inflation many are saying is at 10% that is a tax on all of us from the richest to the poorest.

Did you just post a graph that proves that no matter how high the top marginal tax rate is, tax revenue never gets above 20% of GDP?  Let's raise the top marginal rate to the 1960 level of 90% and we would really be bringing in revenue...A whole 20% of GDP compared to 2000 when the top marginal rate was 39% and the revenue was.........oh 20% of GDP.

Great illustration Box of how raising the top marginal rate or taxing "the rich" can solve our deficit problem by generating more revenue.

~ Kick grandpa out of his wheelchair without enough  Social Security income to buy both Food and his Medications.  He learns to go with out his drugs or he learns to go with out food... His choice.  There may be some rich guy with enough money to buy grandpa's wheelchair... enough to buy food for a month or so... after that... Screw em.  After all, raising taxes on the Rich would ruin the economy... so Gram & Gram just have to sacrifice.

~ That single mom who has an infant to feed, but since the Republicans eliminated WIC she can only afford spaghetti.  I hope that 3 month old can survive on his mom's milk when she isn't getting enough nutrition to keep herself healthy.  She was going to get an abortion after her step dad raped her, but the Republicans finally repealed Roe V Wade so she had no alternative.  The baby will probably grow up malnourished and be a drain on society for his entire life... but that's his problem...Maybe he can get a job polishing the  Rich guy's new Mercedes that he just bought with this years GOP Tax cut for the Rich.  See... the tax cut DID create jobs!

~ Now that the GOP has education vouchers and all the Rich kids get to spend their school tax dollars in private schools, not too many kids from the public schools graduate these days.  Most of the good teachers left to work in private industry, where they can make a living wage.  The only teachers left in the Public schools since the GOP eliminated any education entitlements are pedophiles and drug addicts.  Who else would teach kids for minimum  wage.  The poor kids will just have to make due.

It's easy being a Conservative Republican... Just don't give a crap about anyone but yourself!  I kinda like this selfish lifestyle.  Thanks guys for setting me straight!
It's a wonderful Republican Life!

Yup us conservatives are so selfish, how dare we take personal responsibility for our own lives and want to keep the money we work for. Even though conservatives donate 30% more to charities http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=2682730&page=1 than the average liberal it should be done by the redistribution of wealth through the government right Box.

Ok...So blah...blah...blah..blah...You're a conservative for a day...blah...blah...blah...Are you done yet?  Now answer me this, how does taxing "the rich" increase revenue and reduce debt?  You showed a great illustration, please explain how that graph further supports your position of "taxing the rich" will solve this problem?  Haven't you come to the realization yet that everybody else with a brain has, that Obama is attempting to redefined "rich" and he is now coming after the middle class?

Box, I've come to the conclusion that you are so far down on the socioeconomic scale that anybody not qualifying for at least 2 social welfare programs is considered "rich" and you deserve their money.

OBAMA'S COLLEGE ROOMMATE SPEAKS OUT
                                                      By Wayne Allyn Root

Barack Hussien Obama is no fool.    He is not incompetent.
To the contrary, he is brilliant.     He knows exactly what he's doing.

He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure,
economic crisis and social chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and
our country from within.

Barack Hussien Obama was my college classmate (Columbia University, class of '83).  He is a devout Muslim do not be fooled.

Look at his Czars...anti-business..anti- american.
As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one,  Barack Hussien Obama is
following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University .
They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system
with government spending and entitlement demands.

Add up the clues below.    Taken individually they're alarming.

Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn
the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority
that desperately needs government for survival ... and can be counted
on to always vote for bigger government.

Why not?      They have no responsibility to pay for it.

Universal health care . The health care bill had very little to do with health
care.     It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and
health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents
(who will join government employee unions).

Obama doesn't care that giving free health care to 30 million Americans
will add trillions to the national debt.

What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30
million voters to Democrats and big government .
Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill
in the middle of a depression?

Cap and trade.    Like health care legislation having nothing to do with
health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming.

It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control
of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors.
Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns
NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants.

They will kick-back hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to
Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power.
The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars,
bigger homes and businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."

Make Puerto Rico a state.     Why?    Who's asking for a 51st state?
Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government
entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression?

Certainly not American taxpayers.
But this has been Barack Hussien Obama's plan all along.

His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat
congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on
big government.

Legalize 12 million illegal Mexican immigrants.

Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care
alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America.
But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted
on to support big government.
Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children,
food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and
eventually Social Security .

Stimulus and bailouts.      Where did all that money go?

It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions --
including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government
employees across the country.

It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could
keep paying union dues.

It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out
(after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions).

A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their
union dues).

All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their
bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America.

The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but
Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more
powerful.

The ends justify the means.

Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job
creators.     Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers,
redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did
nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama).

Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the
government. Barack Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve
his political opposition.   With the acts outlined above, Barack
Hussien Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding
constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged
class of public employees who work for big government; and a
government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing
themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the
system.

Add it up and you've got the perfect Marxist scheme -- all devised by
my Columbia University college classmate Barack Hussien Obama
using the Cloward and Piven Plan .

True per snopes!
