What was the point of your compairson and contrast between Iraq and Libya?

One war was a success,
the other a failure.

Both achieved a regime change, one at great cost of dollars and lives, the other at a fraction of the cost and no US lives.  One required an invasion of an entire country, the other required US technology and air power.
One was done efficiently, the other done stupidly.

The US Government's Secret
Colorado Oil Discovery
StansberryOnline.com
5-2-6

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world - more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. Three companies have been chosen to lead the way. Test drilling has already begun

Dear Reader,

Five months ago, the U.S. Energy Department announced the results of a land survey

It was conducted to determine the official amount of oil a thousand feet deep in the Rocky Mountains

They reported this stunning news:

We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth.

Here are the official estimates:

    * 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
    * 18-times as much oil as Iraq
    * 21-times as much oil as Kuwait
    * 22-times as much oil as Iran
    * 500-times as much oil as Yemen

And it's all right here in the Western United States.

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says, "We've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East."

More than 2 TRILLION barrels. Untapped.

"That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today," reports The Denver Post.

When asked about America's least-publicized oil supply, Utah Senator Orrin Hatch said:

"The amounts of oil are staggering. Who would have guessed that in just Colorado and Utah, there is more recoverable oil than in the Middle East?"

Here's the kicker

The U.S. government already owns the land. It's been right there under our noses the whole time.

In fact, the government's appointed a small group of companies to begin the drilling.

Test drilling has already begun.

And the profit forecasts are ridiculous. According to the RAND Corporation (a public-policy think tank for the government), this small region can produce:

Three million barrels of oil per day That translates into more than $20 BILLION a year.

These are the conservative estimates. The U.S. Energy Dept. estimates an eventual output of 10 million barrels of oil per day. At that rate, the money flow would be even greater.

I've written this letter to tell you everything I've learned about this rarely publicized oil reserve who's drilling it and how to get a piece of the world's biggest, untapped oil supply - before it's too late.

Here's the full story

The Next American Oil Boom

There's a new source of oil in the American West.

Today, it sits idle - untapped - inside more than 16,000 square miles of rock and sand.

Geologists call what lies in this region, oil shale.

What is oil shale?

At first glance, oil shale looks like an ordinary black rock.

It feels grainy to the touch and greasy. You see, what's inside oil shale has huge governments, Big Oil, venture capitalists, and even everyday investors scrambling to stake a claim.

Oil shale - when heated - oozes bubbling crude.

This precious resource is rare - found only in a few select countries. Places like China, Brazil, Estonia, Morocco, and Australia.

But the real story is how much untapped oil shale lies beneath U.S. soil. As the chart to the right indicates, there's 4-times more oil shale in the U.S. than in all other countries combined.

Over the past 125 years, oil shale has been the secret oil source for a handful of nations. Specifically, those fortunate enough to have it

    * China's been using oil shale since 1929. Today, China is the largest producer of oil from oil shale. It plans to double the daily rate of production soon.

    * Estonia is an oil shale dependent economy. Over 90% of the country's electricity is fueled by shale oil. In fact, electricity run on oil shale is a chief export.

    * In 1991, Brazil built the world's largest oil shale facility. They've already produced more than 1.5 MILLION tons of oil to make high quality transportation fuels.

    * Jordan, Morocco, and Australia have recently announced plans to utilize their oil shale resources. All 3 governments are currently working to build oil shale facilities.

But all these countries' oil shale resources pale in comparison to the U.S. supply. As you can see from the table to the right, the United States dominates the oil shale market - with over 72% of the world's oil shale resources.

Our gargantuan supply of oil lies beneath an area called the Green River Formation - a barren stretch of land covering portions of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.

World-renowned geologist Walter Youngquist calls the oil beneath the Green River Formation, "a national treasure."

Congress calls this area simply, "the next Saudi Arabia."

Shadow,
I'll repost what I posted earlier today:

Conservatives love to point to US Oil Reserves... as if it were a real number.

Fact...
The total estimated amount of oil in an oil reservoir, including both producible and non-producible oil, is called "oil in place". However, because of reservoir characteristics and limitations in petroleum extraction technologies, only a fraction of this oil can be brought to the surface, and it is only this producible fraction that is considered to be reserves.

With out foreign oil... the USA stops!

Now that the price of oil is up it becomes profitable to bring it to the surface. The oil companies have the technology to extract the oil and will do so if the EPA will just give out the permits to do the work. You've been listening to Al Gore for too long.

Actually, I think Shadow as pointing to the oil that is there, just we aren't allowed to drill on the solid land to get it, so we need to worry about getting our oil from other countries, or drilling off the coast, which puts us atthe percy of the weather / natural disasters whenever Mother Nature wants to send something our way.  The only reason we need the foreign oil is because Congress and the President refuse to allow us to drill for it (and this is not just THIS Congress and THIS President, it is every Congress / President that have served since the '70's.

And both wars were not wars UNDER THE AMERICAN FLAG!!! Our troops were and are fighting under the Iraqi and Libya flag!! The truth is that neither country was a threat to America, so we had NO business there. this is clearly not something this generation wants to leave as a legacy for their children.

One you support one you don't?  C'mon box, all I'm asking is, do you agree with pre-emptive military action and regime change?  Do you like efficient war or no war?  Do you like exerting our military force around the world or not?  Do you like killing as long as it's not Americans getting killed?  Do you like cheap war over expensive war?  Do you like toppling regimes so Western interests can divide up the resources for profit?

C'mon Box, give us some insight for WHY you support the Libyan and are SOOOOOO critical of the Iraq conflict.  Is it just because we spent less and didn't loss American lives in Libya?

Come on guys, rememeber now obama is just a black bush.
They are meat puppets in the hands of banksters and other well heeled folk who can buy whatever they want and if it is not for sale they can legislate it into their hands.
And while we argue over Libya over in Yemen
Unnoticed largely in the press of larger events and obviously downplayed by the controlled Western media, the US and its allies are pursuing yet
ANOTHER aggressive, illegal war – this one in Yemen.

How aggressive is it? It is a full-on conflict that has reportedly seen SEALS come ashore on a regular basis at night to engage tribal fighters in Abyan province, this newspaper has learned from sources in Yemen itself that are in a position to know.

Cicero babbles on and on... He's so sure that he's right...

Cicero... I commented on two wars.  Iraq, a total disaster, and Libya, a huge success (so far).

I supported neither.  Iraq had almost no merit... a total waste of time, dollars and American Patriot lives.
Libya was a totally different situation (and Cicero knows it... but he's looking for an argument so he babbles on). I support NATO.  I support the United Nations.  And I support a war of last resort by the USA when totally necessary.
I also support freedom around the world, but not at the cost of American lives.  Every situation is different and has to be evaluated on it's own benefits.

No war is successful.
All war is failure.
War is War.
War is no thing to be proud of.

It serves no purpose to send your Sons and Daughters off to Kill for the king... ( Samuel and Saul)
We do not need military bases all over the world to stop them over there before they come over here.
Do you really believe that if we took the resources being wasted at 130 places all over the world, the same resources would not be able to provide for our
own self defense?
Thats how they got here cuz we are all over there defending the dollar standard, its not a flag we are killing for  its a fed note.

Oh... thats right , 911 when some dudes with box cutters outsmarted the best and brightest on the planet, THATS why we went over their, that bastege
saddam was tryin ta sell his oil in eurodollars,  WHile you are there get the horses.
Oh... our government would not kill 3000 plus people to further their adgenda?
Thats right! our government only kills bad people.
Civilization HOOOOOO!!!!! one shining steel rail... from sea to shining sea. from Bangor all the way to mighty Maine!!!
We will spread our regulatory democracy all over the world to make it a better place for YOU ....  the viewer.
Just keep those Sons and Daughters coming in folks. ( we will keep the change)
Yes, like the banks woke up one morning and said holy crap we are under water golly gee Mr Goldman, better get lehman on the phone  get timmy and the boys together too, hes
got a face for TV. and leak something out to the d1psh1ts at the news corp., tell em we are gonna spotaniously combust of we dont print up a few hundred trillion to see us through.
Are we that gullible?
Or have we been programmed and drugged.
That is the beauty of the Internet we and folks all over the planet can communicate.
The war mongers and banksters do feel their grip on humanity slipping, they will do anything to make us go to war with one and each other while they sit back  and fund the whole
mess with their fraudulent paper.
Just like the printing press and paper the Internet will be their undoing,
The sweat and blood they bleed out of "paychecks" every week is the consent they need.
And they say it is voluntary, ah huh yep it is you do not have to support their bloodlust.
Removal of consent is our best option, trying to kill them only fuels their evil.
Voting them out will not work, there are too many of them... they must be defunded.
How can a few thousand gain control over millions if not billions of people, gain control of the natural resources.
They can not exist without the blood and swaet of the people.
They have tricked us with their funny notes,
We give blood and sweat for a few hundred notes a week and they take back a good chunk before we even see it, wow man talk about a great deal!!!
Charge em an up front fee  and then taxe em in the back end too.
wow  marvel of marvels, is it any wonder the bible says usury is as the sin of sodom...
heheheh....
either way some one is taking it in arears.

So...Was Libya totally necessary?  Was Libya in support of "freedom" around the world?  If every situation is different, what was the Libya situation in your opinion?  Do you support U.S. involvement in Libya under U.N. direction and our army directed under a NATO flag, without congressional approval?  You say you supported neither, then you post cost and casualty comparisons like it was a political victory for Obama.  As a 60's liberal hippie Democrat, are you forced to support Obama at all costs and give nuanced double speak answers about war?
