The medical board is an appointed advisory board that oversees emergency medical responders in the Town. It's composition originally included representatives from the PD, the former volunteer ems squads, FD members...but the volunteer squads no longer exist (they merged into what is now a paid REMS)...and the original law that creates the Board is not in sync with current circumstances. There was a resolution passed that restructured this Board to include members of REMS, the PD and the FDs...but I opposed this at the Town meeting last night because I believe this presents potential conflicts, especially when you consider that REMS is likely to be a bidder on the ems contract...and that the members of that Board are expected to be involved in the process of choosing an ems provider. I recommended an amendment that would in fact exclude representatives from interest groups...and that this Board should be composed of all private residents with no interest, financial or otherwise, in the organizations over which they may have authority or some other oversight. IMO that would be like putting a Town Board member on the Ethics Board...like the SPD investigating themselves all the time - lol.

It will appear that IF they have folks from rems on this board, it will clearly be a conflict of interest issue. Since rems will be one of the 'private' entities bidding for the contract, it would make logical sense that they should be excluded. Ya either have them ALL on the board or none at all! I also don't see the benefit for firemen to be on this board. Nor the police for that matter.
There should be private citizens in this mix for a fair and balanced board. Not the same old, same old!!!!! Rotterdam needs to change how they have done business in the past.......other wise it will continue to be the 'same old, same old sh!thole!

Better have a witness/ video at the delivery and opening of your bid and don't deliver it too early. as it:

May I remind you that the town/village/city offices are 'the people's offices'! As well as the people working inside. As well as ALL information coming in and going out of the 'people's offices'.
Unless things are deemed confidential 'by law'......it is ALL public information! It's called 'transparency'. You remember, the campaign promise from the dem-o-cons REVITALIZE ROTTERDAM TEAM??

BTW Tippy...the legal notice is in today's People's Gazette....only the meeting itself is annonced...no explanation of any details for this meeting....which goes to MM's point...they will use it for whatever convenience they want....ND asked for this meeting specifically for the purpose of addressing the medical board in light of the resolution passed to go out for bids....but who knows what they might sneak in....they probably won't even tell ND or other Board members until they are literally walking in to the meeting. The last time they had a "special meeting" was supposedly to "present" the budget...but it was a ruse to reschedule the tax scam vote for REMS.
