No reason those girls can't take tips.  The work for the cafe albeit in the town bur they are entitled to tips just the way the camp counselors receive tips at the end of camp.

Why is Dorthy in Argentina for three months?  That seems to be a bit excessive.  On the other hand if she is not a full-time employee and she is only an hourly wage person than there is no reason why she should feel bonded to the Center.  And BTW there was a LOT of talk about that situation in the Price Chopper yesterday.  A LOT.......if Paolino had taken care of her there wouldn't be this problem now.  The other too need to get dumped out of there.

there is only a small issue  - ethics

there may be a tip jar - but the tips belong to the town as whole not the town employees

our ethics code says
"To insure that Town officers and employees, whether elected or appointed, paid or unpaid, be independent, impartial and free from conflicts of interest in fulfilling their public responsibilities"

and describes a GIFT AND FINANCIAL BENEFIT
Shall include any money, service, license, permit, contract, authorization loan, travel, entertainment, hospitality, privilege, exemption or any promise there
of, or any other gratuity   or promise thereof, or anything of value.

now we are talking an extra slice of ham or meatball but....

"Every Town officer and employee shall endeavor to pursue a course of conduct consistent with the spirit of this chapter as well as the actual provisions and strive to act so as not to raise suspicion among the public that he/she is likely to be engaged in activities that are in violation of his/her trust."

so until they CLOSE IT - follow the rules

and so it looks as if MS Marco was looking out for her employees at the time the employee handbook was adopted by the town board by trying to get them to realize they may be breaking town law

Apparently FDG's definition of "ethics" rubbed off on those two in the Brass Rail!

Tippy are you serious? Do you honestly believe that cops don't get free/discounted food, services, gratuities? If you do, then I have a bridge to no where to sell ya. Did EE 'ever' accept a gratuity for affiliating a marriage? Do ya honestly think that local government officials have never accepted a good bottle of wine or their favorite adult beverage? And people are up in arms over a stupid 'tip jar'??????

Rotterdam gets more hilarious by the minute!!!!

if you read further into the code EE's funds are exempt

if you truely want the old laundry cleaned you have to start somewhere

so far i hear the has been discussion of two issues before the ethics board

(1) is it ethical to pay EE even if she is a no show  ie is she stealing from the taxpayers
(2) can supervisor reperesent the board without the town board's direction on matters of employement

and the lame a** attorney for the board recommends no action
