The Dem party is not what it used to be. They used to care about helping the working people but they have morphed into nothing but a grow government and spend more money party and until the true Dems take their party back many will never trust them again.
The dem-o-cons platform of REVITALIZE ROTTERDAM will haunt them for years and years!!! What is the most shameful about the rotterdam dem-o-cons is that they lured an old man to run for super. They played him and the entire slate as the best thing since sliced bread. Not to mention the old man's bankroll.
NOW....they heartlessly turn their back on him and discard him like a piece of crap. FDG is liked by many many rotterdamians and this does NOT set well with them.

Going to town board meetings has been and will always be an effort in futility. You can learn more about the town by talking to the people pulling the strings. The only bonus to attending those meetings if you're a candidate is for name recognition. Buffardi obviously doesn't need that...
No Point, just pubic information. People can draw their own opinions as to whether a life long Schenectady County bureaucrat that was able to climb the political bureaucratic ladder is the right person to lead Rotterdam. You don't reach that level and knock down that kind of cabbage without some political favors.
Personally, I'm not too comfortable with a Rotterdam detective becoming Sheriff and the ex-County Sheriff becoming Town Supervisor. Last thing Rotterdam needs is Buffardi negotiating our police contract. Our taxes are high enough. Also, I don't know if Rotterdam has enough 3000 square foot houses to house our police force that would be in demand after a Buffardi negotiated contract.
It makes me wonder, why did the Democrats pull Buffardi off the couch to run for supervisor? What was he promised? He got out of politics long ago to teach, now, all of a sudden he want to jump into the Rotterdam political meat grinder? Hmmmmm....

Harry Buffardi is settled in as a full-time Schenectady County Community College faculty member after a 36-year career in law enforcement.
"I'm now living a much less complicated life,'' says Buffardi, who retired as Schenectady County sheriff last January. "I've eliminated a lot of nonsense involved in being sheriff, including politics and trying to work out inter-agency cooperation.''
Buffardi, 60, spent nearly four decades with the Sheriff's Department, working up the ladder from deputy, lieutenant, major, undersheriff and finally election as sheriff 11 years ago.
He didn't go into education cold. He taught criminal justice part-time at SCCC for 13 years. Now he daily teaches six classes, including one on corrections.
"My lengthy enforcement background is helpful in the classroom because I can use anecdotal material as a teaching tool,'' Buffardi said. "I love my new job, but I loved the other work too.''
As an aside, when I inadvertently called Buffardi at his old sheriff's department phone number, I was reminded of government's glacial speed. Buffardi has been out of office for 10 months, but his old phone answers, "This is Sheriff Buffardi, leave a message.''
Rotterdam victors eye deputy supervisor spot
Word has it Rotterdam Democrats want to create a full-time deputy supervisor position and appoint Diane Marco to fill it.
Party leaders believe Marco would be a great help for newly elected Supervisor Frank Del Gallo, a town businessman taking his first crack at politics and running local government.

I found it ironic that both these names were in the same article 2 years ago. DM was the front runner for Deputy Supervisor and was snubbed for Bob God, and Buffardi was retired from politics. Now DM is on the outside of town government fired from the Senior Center, and Buffardi is getting back into politics. I wonder what job the party(cops) is promising DM, and what(who) is dragging Harry back into politics?

Sheriff Dagostino and Sheriff Buffardi are two of the finest public servants around --- most reasonable and decent people respect the work they have done ... and know that they can continue to expect great things from these two distinguished gentlemen. The only people who try to cast stones at these fine men are either nattering nayboobs of negativity and/or have been or should have been locked up in the county jail for criminal misdeeds.

The only people that cast stones at FDG are people that believe he didn't push for the REMS taxing district hard enough, those running the senior center, and some working at Town Hall. Those who cast stones at Dag and Buff are those that don't want the law enforcement unions making lucrative deals for themselves at the Rotterdam taxpayers expense. It's like electing the wolf to guard the hen house.
