Some folks think that all it takes is a snap of a finger to get rid of the snow.   Obviously, it doesn't go away like that.     In the midst of the actual snowstorm, road crews were plowing the the main roads in Bellevue and they were in good shape .... not very good nor great ... but good shape.   I had absolutely no problems getting around in it.

I think schdy city residents should call in the National Guard to help w/ this mess .It's freaking unbelievable, that we should live under these conditions.Dvr shut up you dont live here and if your idea of Broadway being  drivable at ten am. is a good thing your delusional. Most people go to work way before then.I know you dont  you have your own wealth . You dont live in the city so please dont try to tell me how good the streets are. They are terrible  and have been for years . I live on Rugby rd and there a snowbank 4 feet away from my curb that the plows continue to go around. There is a hydrant buried under that pile of sh*t  . I have called  every agency I can think of ,most of which are just machines to no avail.  Keep telling everyone how good it is around here . You Dont live here you have know f**king idea

I only commented on the main roads in Bellevue -- I did not go further into the city so I did not comment on the roads in the rest of the city.
One does not have to live in the city to have an opinion on the condition of the roads.   So I suggest that you take your nasty comments and stickem where the sun doesn't shine.

It is shameful and alarming to think that a municipality, in upstate ny, where winters are historically hard, does not have the ability or prepared to maintain their roads in a timely/quality manner.

What's the average yearly snow fall in schenectady? I think it is around 70"/year. Do they not know how to plan for these things?

Some folks think that all it takes is a snap of a finger to get rid of the snow.   Obviously, it doesn't go away like that.     In the midst of the actual snowstorm, road crews were plowing the the main roads in Bellevue and they were in good shape .... not very good nor great ... but good shape.   I had absolutely no problems getting around in it.

And uh, DV, what about the taxpayers -- THE OVERTAXED TAXPAYERS - the OVERWHELMING VAST MAJORITY who live on SIDE streets (the MAJORITY of the city are SIDE streets, NOT "main roads")...I guess those financially struggling taxpayers don't count, tough sh*t if an ambulance has to get down their street, or fire, right?

And DUH, if you had a brain you would see that if your dem buddy mayor would do what everyone else does, the streets would be clean.  Do odd/even parking.  Move ALL cars to one side, and the plows can go down the other side of the street pushing the snow in a STRAIGHT LINE AND as close to the curb as possible.  Then, DUH, DV. all cars move to the other side of the street and the plows repeat the same process on the other side of the street.  DUH.  NO BRAINER DV!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can you dare think it's better to have plows weave in and out of parked cars, leaving mounds of snow in the street once they have gone through and rarely pushing snow up to the curb, etc.

What is your logic for leaing snow in the road merely becuase your support the mayor not declaring an emergency??????    What is your logic for plows leaving mounds of snow in the road, that gets hard packed, might get slushy if it warms up, then freezes to ice filled with ruts which can damage cars.

So, anwer this, how come it's relatively easy for all the other municiplaities to plow snow with snow emergencies, limit parking, and push snow back to the curb.

Explain DV, HOW CAN Schenectady plows push snow to the curb with cars parked there??????????????????   HUH?????????    HUH???????????????   TOO CHICKEN TO RESPOND TO THAT QUESTION??????????

Show us the photos of the streets you travelled that you claim are in good shape.

Ah, too embarrased to put up photos because any photos will prove that the streets are terrible

We live in Upstate NY... It snows here... Every winter... Get over it!

You are correct boxy.......but you are overlooking the fact that schenectady roads are unnecessarily bears to travel on ALLWINTER LONG!! The Schenectady residents are shouldering an unequal tax burden for the city while many many businesses are tax exempt. The residents are the highest taxed in the state.....the least they should be able to expect is decently and timely plowed roads.

As far as your statement about 'it snows here....every winter'.....would you please inform the city officials of that fact so they can prepare accordingly?

Right like the Erie Blvd circle to nowhere! The City tax rate and the services rendered do not match up. Mayor SOS promised he knew what to do with the snow. He lied. Sickening how some people cover for this total incompetent. He has ruined the City and it will take a decade to remove all the morons he has put into City Hall and on every commission.

The FACT of the matter is that I said that the side roads were not plowed.   I only made positive comments about 3 main roads in Bellevue.

BTW -- I have as much right to post on any topic as you do.   And i intend to do so for awhile .. although you folks have gotten quite predictable and boring.     I could say the sun rises in the morning in the east and you and several twits would argue that it rises in the evening in the west.     So -- enjoy my posts.

What about the fact that you were calling us complainers for the last couple of weeks . If the Mayor would have had sh*t done right the first couple of times things would not be so bad now . You dont drive here ,you dont live here . You are not relevant here on this thread .

The problem is the lack of leadership DV.

I really use to be reasonably positive on Mayor Stratton.

This snow emergency thing is one of the major reasons I no longer support him at all.  The sheer lunacy of just ignoring massive snowstorms...  Like remember when they declared a State of Emergency, banning all non-critical travel, but did not declare a snow emergency?

Really - you can't make this sh*t up.

But back to my point about poor leadership.

There are apparently two reasons the mayor does not want to declare a snow emergency:

1)  The cost.  This perplexes me as the only added costs should be the police department issuing tickets.  I would think the ticket fees would cover their OT costs.  The towed vehicle owner would pay for the tow company costs.  I mean, we're still going to have to plow streets, and one would think it would go easier and quicker without cars in the way - so if anything wouldn't plowing costs go down?  I just don't get the cost complaint.

2)  People calling him and complaining.  Well tough sh*t.  A poor leader hides from challenges.  A strong one confronts them, and does not reward the bad behavior of those ignoring snow emergencies, by instead just not declaring them.  If you started declaring snow emergencies - guess what?  The people who get towed and have to pay $200 to get their car back might learn their lesson...  They might even knock on their neighbor's doors to alert them to the emergency if they see their car out.

But no - this mayor just hides his face in the sand.

On this one issue, absolute utter incompetence.

Every other municipality in the area has declared an emergency...  And Stratton cowers.
