Very possibly 20 inches of snow coming in the next two days. And of course, HOW the plows now will push the snow back to the curb? Impossible on many streets because there is three inches or more thick rock solid hard ice sometimes a foot from the curb. Snow banks already high. Virtually no snow removal (with those huge snowblower trucks) has been done, I mean MAYBE some super narow streets.
So will the SOS (Symbol of Socialism) mayor declare a snow emergency during this storm. My bets are a big NO. His office says "its costs a lot of money." BUt how come there IS money for the bakery, the gin mills, the theaters, the hair-do salons, the hotels, etc????? Oh yeah, we live in the socialist city of the state
Get your cameras ready everyone

MC 20 inches???? Where did you hear that? I thought we were only getting some ice. You sure?
* Accumulations: on Tuesday... snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches with another 2 to 4 inches expected late Tuesday night. On Wednesday... snow accumulations of 10 to 16 inches are expected... with an additional 1 to 4 inches Wednesday night. Total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 30 inches.
* Timing: snow will spread across the area early Tuesday morning... and become occasionally moderate to heavy through Tuesday. Only occasional light snow is expected Tuesday evening with the snow picking up in intensity after midnight. The snow will come down heavy at times Wednesday especially during the morning. The snow will taper off Wednesday night.
Most of the tv and radio stations are predicting at least a foot for the Albany-Schenectady-Troy area ... and pretty much all snow -- as the sleet and ice will be south and east of us.
But who knows -- whatever we get .. we get .. I am prepared for it.
Of course, certain folks who I shall not name are probably already balled up in the corner of their rooms, sucking their thumbs and talking to the voices in their heads over the prospect of (gasp) a snowstorm in the Great Northeast in February.

I can accept the snow. But people pay taxes, HIGH TAXES, and they have an entitlement to have their streets cleaned properly, so that people can drive on the streets to go to work and other necessary places, and more so that emergency vehicles can get through.
Just because we live in a snow area does NOT mean that we should expect to have streets that are impassable, nor should we expect that our cars must sustain damage from ice left because a socialist mayor won't spent the money on snow plowing but he will spend it on bakeries, gin mills, theater, etc.

Sounds alot like Stratton. Maybe the voices in his head could try to dial the phone to declare a snow emergency this time.
So the latest I heard is 4 to 8 inches on Tuesday, and then the second storm will be 14 to 20 inches, so the total could be close to 30 inches
But there's no need to plow streets back to the curb in Schenectady. Well we might all agree there is a need, but the mayor claims the city can't afford it, but yet, the city taxpayers pour more money into all the private busineses.
Cut out the money to the theaters, gin mills, hair-do salaons, bakeries, etc, and there will be more than enough money to properly plow the roads.

You nailed it

Don't feel bad people, I get the pleasure of climbing up a 3 story building to shovel off the snow on their flat roof I just got done doing it once Sunday, I removed about 6 inches of snow and about 4 inches of solid ice from it....say a prayer for me lol.

A snow emergency has been declared! In Waterford and Menands! Meanwhile back in pathetic Schenectady zzzzzzzzzzzz. Call the Mayor's Office-demand he declare his first snow emergency in eight years.
Is he here or in Washington DC? No one's in charge-no one knows from nothing-monkey business as usual under SOS.
Henry be safe on that roof and if we get 20" to 30" of snow I'll have to do some roof clearing as well. I worry that if the streets in the city don't get cleared someone will die in a fire due to the fire trucks inability to navigate the streets. This could be a very big storm and shouldn't be taken lightly and I agree that the cities money problems are due to over spending money they don't have and they don't have any one to blame but the Metroplex, city council, and the mayor.

Both Saratoga and Amsterdam have declared snow emergencies starting at 9pm to clear off main streets. Meanwhile in moronic Schenectady Mayor SOS refuses to lead.
By the time this major blizzards ends every other City will have declared a snow emergency. No money for plowing, no money to knock down dangerous eyesores but unlimited funds for City cellphones/cars.
