COLONIE NY Conservative Party to convene BY DAVID LOMBARDO Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter David Lombardo at 395-3134 or dlombardo@dailygazette.net.
Conservatives and conservative-oriented New Yorkers from across the state will gather in Colonie on Sunday and Monday for the state’s Conservative Party’s 44th Annual Political Action Conference. The event, which is expected to include an appearance from 2010 Conservative and Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino, will also offer party Chairman Michael Long, Empire Center’s E.J. McMahon, Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin, R-Melrose, U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, and political personality Mark Steyn. Steyn, who is a popular guest host on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show and Sean Hannity’s cable television show, will be the featured speaker for the luncheon Monday. He is also visiting fellow of Hillsdale College and a New York Times bestselling author. The conference comes at a time when the state Conservative Party is enjoying a new surge in popularity, as it cemented its position on the ballot during the recent elections and seems to have a fiscal ally in Gov. Andrew Cuomo. According to Long, the conference will lay out the party’s legislative agenda, which primarily will revolve around the state’s budget. He said that the conference has a record number of people registered to attend this year, which tells him that “people are looking for a way to stem the outrageous spending.” ................>>>>.....................>>>>...................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01002&AppName=1
