ROTTERDAM -- Time Warner Cable has a deal to bundle its TV, phone and Internet services for just $99 a month -- but many current customers aren't eligible for the offer.

In a letter sent to customers this month announcing a new round of rate increases, the company urged them to call to see how they could lower their bills despite the increases. The letter said one way to get those savings is to bundle TV, phone and Internet service for $33 each per month, a promotion similar to recent ads the company has been running.

But according to fine print in the letter, the only people who are eligible for the $99 bundle are current customers who get only one of the three services. And the 12-month deal expires at the end of the month. New customers are also eligible for a similar offer.

Those conditions have upset a lot of Time Warner customers who called or e-mailed the Times Union on Tuesday to complain they aren't eligible for the offer, despite what appeared to be a good deal.

I'm in the middle of dropping TW for TV (DirecTV being installed next week) - then a DSL line for internetz and I'll be free of the scumbag company.

Total ripoff and monopoly.

TWC is on the way out in my house as well. I'm going OOMA for internet phone, getting DirectTV, and only keeping Roadrunner. I have a son in the USAF in Italy, so for the past 5 months I've been paying over $200 a month for standard RR, digital phone, and HD cable. I have two converters and one DVR.

We get the $99 package --- digital HD cable, phone and road runner --- great deal.   We have been very happy with the performance of the products, the customer service and that we pay one low price for all of our local and long distance phone calls.

are you a long time customer? did they give you a hard time? was it worth it? my time is worth more than an argument and that is
what they are banking on......

I didn't like satellite, lighting hit the dish and fried the box, they wanted us to pay for a new box, but we stood our ground and won.  And I hated it when there was a storm and the screen froze.

But I like capital news 9 and while I don't like the fact that the goofs at city hall took public acccess and put it in the hands of their cronies, I don't think the satellite channels have the local government meetings channels

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Where I am, DirecTV has a 99.9% UP guarantee. It helps that the tech lives about 8 houses from here and he frequently is a visitor to my beer cooler.

99.9 uptime isn't all that impressive.
Is still means nearly 9 hours of downtime a year.
And what is considered downtime? Is a frozen or skipping picture considered downtime?
is partial service?
I doubt it.
