the only "dolts" are the folks who have decided to oppose a plan only because they dislike the person who heads the parks commission ... .

The only people that are "dolts" are those that think robbing peter to pay paul(federal/grant money paying for local projects), just to end up being peter later down the road is free money.  We have the leader of the (now former)free world screaming from the mountain tops that we are in the greatest recession since the great depresssion, yet federal grants are available for a Town that has 9 parks.  So now Obama is looking to raise Federal Income Taxes to pay down debt.  The same debt created to pay for local pet projects like parks.  Economics 101 - there's no such thing as a free lunch.  Raise taxes, borrow from China, inflate the currency - somebody is paying for it.

I don't personally dislike the head of the park commission, I dislike the fact a park commission exists.  It's a waste of time and energy to even waste our collective breath on something so low on the priority list of town issues.  Hundreds of thousand of dollars in ALS money was fleeced from the taxpayers pockets without ANYBODY knowing where it went, but we have a committee floating ideas about a new dog park.  Where's the committee overseeing the ALS collections?  C'MON!!!  How can anybody take this serious?  It is $hit like this when I agree with Smoking Bananas, Rotterdamians ARE Rotterdummies.

for one I never said they were leaving because of Melrose Place...... I said this blog sounds like Melrose Place......everyone is so worried about who is hired by who for whatever reason and calling names.... is how adults in our community act???  Yes absolutely taxes are out of control and every elected official should be held accountable....it is not just one person, it is all the elected officials both dems and reps!  The name calling is just ridiculous..... I tell my kids........ unless you are willing to step up and fix the problem...... don't insult anyone else who is trying to fix it!  I am not sticking up for anyone and it was NOT Ron who told me to check out this blog page, it was another citizen who has no political position in town.

It has ALWAYS been like this. Decades! Nothing new.
It is incestuous and generational.
Only now....... there is the INTERNET!!!

And there are many many many county folks who have stepped up to the plate with suggestions and different idea to try to 'fix' a problem........only to have a deaf ear and a blind eye turned toward them.

The fact is that the Parks Commission is the ONLY town board or commission that hasn't cost the town a dime ..  is actually getting people interested and willing to DONATE land and resources for the town's parks and recreation   ............ and a lot of people take it seriously ..  residents, business persons, potential donors, economic development experts and state & federal officials

you can call yourself  a dummy ... but I know that the commission and I have put together some very good proposals that will not cost the taxpayers money but will enhance the quality of life for our residents .

Poor Ron. How sad a man of his distinction and achievement being picked on by name callers from Melrose Street...

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Even the dolts on Melrose Street know that this commission is a total waste of time. This town does not need any more parks and State/Federal {tax dollars!} should be wasted on this. It's all about hiring another connected DEM moron and giving him full benes. Anyone that thinks it's about recreation is in the bag.

Cicero could not be move correct. Thousands missing from town coffers and this stunda committee wants more dog parks and bike paths. BTW, stop throwing REPS into this soup. The town is 5-0 DEM. Another reason to make changes in November. The REPS should make dissolving this useless Parks commission a top priority.

Where does the park commission meet?  Town Hall?  Do you hold your meetings in the dark?  No such thing as a free lunch.

It doesn't make sense to leave 78 acres of town owned land idle for another 16 years .. it doesn't make sense to leave state can corporation land underutilized   ---  especially since one of the surplus canal corp properties is being proposed to be put BACK ON THE TAX ROLLS.

It doesn't make sense to trun down federal and state funding which would put sidewalks and a sewer along Main St and  allow and thus allow for  economic development in Rotterdam Junction  while at the same time safeguarding  the aquifer and our drinking supply.

Finally, it doesn't make sense that the  Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity have decided to attack something that they know NOTHING about   .. but then that is par for the course for this bunch.

Maybe the land could be developed for businesses that would actually pay taxes. Sewers and sidewalks are needed and a good investment for the people in that area. Spending money just to spend money in this economy is what doesn't make any sense. Parks don't pay taxes or create any jobs that help the taxpayer pay the towns bills.

Even worse when you consider the number of tax paying residents that actually USE the parks

Why wasn't the land farmed to raise produce to sell at a Rotterdam farmer's market at a reduced price to offset the high costs of produce.  The profits could be used for all those trying to get a good spot at the Town Trough!
