I read here that democrapicvoodoorepeater has egg on his face and is over-ruled by the party and now has to accept Lisa on the volunteer parks committee. I wonder, after bashing the hell out of her for weeks, how he feels now.
Mrs. Dufek is welcome to attend the meetings of the commission as a member of the general public or, as shedid for the January meeting, as the representative of the Supervisor (like the supervisor she would be an "ex-officio member" of the commission entitled to participate in the discussions of the commission). She and every resident of the town have always been welcome to attend commission meetings.
Only the 9 appointed members are counted for purposes of determining an official quorom and for the casting of any formal votes.
The next time there is a vacancy among the 9 appointed members of the commission, she and ANY resident is welcome to apply for consideration for appointment to the commission.

I am still just as confused senders. LD writes a letter to the gazette stating that she didn't make this parks committee and politicizing the issue. NOW....the TB agenda says they will pass a resolution allowing her on the committee.
Is she or isn't she on the stupid committee?

Are you saying that she is an ex-officio member or she will, by Town Board appointment, have full commission rights and responsibilities? DVR your post is ambiguous. Is she on or just representing FDG and if that is what she is doing why is that happening? Does he have a rep on every Commission in the town? BT, MT or GB what's the story?

First --- the Town Board voted on January 1 to set the official number of members of the Commission at 9 and then passed a resolution appointing 9 persons to the commission -- Mrs. Dufek's was not among those officially appointed. And as far as I am concerned - there is no need to add a 10th member - neither I nor the commission was consulted or notified of this proposal -- it is COMPLETELY UNECESSARY ... read on
Second --- the resolution passed by the town board, which was drafted by me, calls for "ex-officio" members including members of the town board, relevant town staff, a rep from each - the senior center and the various leagues in the town (soccer, little league, etc) and a high school student representative from each of the high schools in the town.
Third --- While it is not written in the actual resolution, it has always been my practice as Chairman of the Parks Commission to allow ANY resident who attends our meetings to sit at the same conference table with the commission and participate in our discussion of the agenda items.
Fourth --- for purposes of determining an official quorom and for when we actually cast formal votes - only th 9 commission members are eligible -- but frankly --- all of our votes or decisions were made previously by reaching a unanimous consensus ... so voting has never been a huge issue.
Fifth --- on the morning of our January commission meeting .. I was informed that Mr. Del Gallo was sending Mrs. Dufek as his personal representative. I said "fine .. that is your prerogative" and explained the difference between a official and ex-officio member. (I added one more thing - which I will mention at the end) . Mrs Dufek was politely received when she attended the meeting -- as chair I provided her and 3 new persons ( one a new commission member, one a student rep and the other a resident visitor) with copies of all of the materials (agendas, copy of Vision 2020 parks plan, etc) and informed Mrs Dufek that I would make copies of additional materials available to her and the other new attendees at the next meeting. She participated in our discussions at the table. The commission treated her respectfully and graciously.
Sixth --- sometime between that meeting and yesterday .. the Supervisor and Deputy Supervisor must have gotten a bug up their a** .. and decided to add a resolution adding a 10th position to the Parks Commission and appoint Mrs. Dufek to the position. They have not called me to tell me about it -- I read about on this blog.
Now to the point that I had mentioned before -- I told Mr. DelGallo in his office the morning of the January commission meeting .. actually I asked him .. why couldn't you have called me back in December -- he has my home # and cell # ... the whole thing could have been worked out. He told me that as Supervisor he can appoint ( apparently he believes unilaterally) anyone to any Commission or Board in the Town. I reminded him that -- actually --- it takes a majority vote of the Town Board to appoint anyone to a Commission or Board in the Town. I asked him then -- to avoid any future misunderstanding to please call me and give me a heads up if he has any issues with me or the commission.
I don't know what it will take to convince the Supervisor and the Deputy Supervisor that good management and good government require COMMUNICATION. For every piece of paper that I have produced for the Parks Commission --- agendas, reading materials to prep members for our meetings, minutes, correspondence, schedules of meetings, reports , etc -- I have given copies to EVERY commission member, ever TownBoard Member, the Public Works Coordinator, the Town Planner, the Town Attorneys and - in most cases- to the Town Clerk's Office. They - the Supervisor and the Deputy (as well as the other folks mentioned) have ALWAYS been kept "in the loop" by my end ........ and , quite frankly, I am more than a bit ticked off that the Supervisor and the Deputy Supervisor have flat out caused this huge spectacle because of their refusal to act like adults and communicate openly.
Oh -- and to answer your question -- the Supervisor doesn't have a "personal representative" on any of the other boards or commissions of the town ( Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, etc.). At least, not in any official sense.
No other commission or board in this town has gone as far as the Parks Commission has to be as open as possible and invite the participation of as many people as possible. We are all volunteers and residents whose only desire is make our parks and recreation system something to be proud of. And I say this directly to the Supervisor and the Deputy Supervisor --- I don't care what your beef is with me (God knows I don't know what it could possibly be) but I do not appreciate the two of you shitting on the other hard-working volunteer members of the commission.

Why aren't ALL documents and minutes given to the Clerk's office? They're the official recorder for the town.
All the minutes and agendas have been given to the Town Clerk's Office -- with the exception of the December 2010 and January 2011 minutes which need to be approved.
The only thing that I did not give the Town Clerk's office were copies of various articles and papers that I put together for the commission members to be prepared for discussion.
I am sure that every piece of paper generated for the Parks Commission is in both physical and electronic form at my home.

Stored in a non-paid commission chairs "home" (by the way, it's not yours, it's your aunts) - doesn't exactly make it "full disclosure" now, does it? How else does the public know what's stored in the house you live in?
And why weren't Decembers minutes approved at the January meeting, and filed in a timely manner with the clerk of the town?

Copies of every official document of the Commission - agendas, minutes and reports - have been submitted to the Town Clerk's Office .. I did my part by giving them the copies of those documents. I still retain copies of those documents and all other materials both physically and electronically at home. Copies of the documents that the public need to access to were submitted to the Town Clerk ... the public does not need to have access to the copies of the same documents stored in my house.
