We probably agree on a lot more than you folks give me credit for. But certainly when it comes to pro-life issues ... I am 100% pro-life .. straight down the line. The only other issue that I am as passionate about -- other than pro-life -- is getting the folks of the town to work together to have a great parks and recreational system. One that we can all enjoy and be proud of. Beyond that -- quite sincerely -- I couldn't care less if I was ever elected or appointed to any public office.
Let's protect life by ending the culture of death. And let's have a good community of neighbors with some great parks and open spaces. Then I can die a happy man.

The unborn child is still a human life. Speaking from personal experience - prior to my godson and his twin sister being born many weeks premature -- the doctors wanted their mother to have an abortion because her life was in danger. They said that the unborn babies could not survive outside her womb and that she would die if they waited until they were. She refused an abortion and the twins were born a few weeks later --- technically .. still not viable according to the doctors. The doctors said they might live a few hours or days ... they passed those milestones. The doctors said they would have all kinds of health problems and might die before they were much beyond infancy ... the twins grew slowly but surely and despite a few issues ,, grew .. and grew..and eventually were thriving. The twins will be 28 years old this spring ... both are in great health .. played varsity athletics in high school and college. One placed quite high in track and field Nationally .. I believe 14th in the nation in her track events. Both graduated from very good colleges with honors.
Oh -- and at least one of the doctors who said they would never be viable .. he dropped dead of a heart attack in his 50's. So I guess -- God surely fooled that guy all the way around.
Long story short --- an unborn baby is a human. Only God should decide who is viable and who is not.
Good story dvr.
My cousin was pregnant for their first child. All ultrasound sounds showed a 'defective' baby. They let them know that abortion was on the table as an option. As God believing people, they passed on the idea of an abortion. They and the family prayed daily and was willing to accept 'whatever'. They deliver a perfectly healthy baby boy!!! NOTA THING WRONG WITH HIM!!
He's 10 years old now, with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER!!
Now was that a 'miracle' or 'human error'?
I guess there are a lot of these success stories.
As far as parks go.......there are bigger fish to fry in rotterdam. IMHO

Yes -- there are many stories of these miracle babies. They do great work at Albany Med with preemies.
There are other fish to fry .. maybe not bigger. I can't be involved in every issue .... so I have chosen parks and recreation as the issue that I will focus my energy and time on.

Similiar story-when i was pregnant with my youngest son who is now 20, my hubbys friends wife also pregnant. She was told by doctors her baby had major issues and recommended terminating pregnancy. Her and her husband refused abortion, and she gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
A zygote/fetus is only a human being when the woman carrying it decides she wants to finish cooking it....
you cant toss the foul of "there is birth control available all over" or "she shouldn't have had sex"
having said that...we hope that she discussed the issue with the significant other, possibly family, friends, church or whatever.....
when it takes breath is it living? when it takes food is it living? when it crys is it living?.......when it becomes a child and gets beat/abused/ignored etc is it living? what if it cant walk is it living? what if it cant breath without a machine is it living? the list is endless.......

Only God gets to decide when life begins and when it ends.

Study: Mental health risk no higher after abortion The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES — Having an abortion does not increase the risk of mental health problems, but having a baby does, one of the largest studies to compare the aftermath of both decisions suggests. The research by Danish scientists further debunks the notion that terminating a pregnancy can trigger mental illness and shows postpartum depression to be much more of a factor. Abortion in Denmark has been legal since 1973 — the same year the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade, which established a right to abortion. The Danish study included 365,550 teenagers and women who had an abortion or fi rst-time delivery between 1995 and 2007. None had a history of psychiatric problems that required hospitalization. Through various national registries, researchers were able to track mental health counseling at a hospital or outpatient facility before and after an abortion or delivery. During the study period, 84,620 had an abortion while 280,930 gave birth. Researchers compared the rate of mental health treatment among women before and after a first abortion. Within the fi rst year after an abortion, 15 per 1,000 women needed psychiatric counseling — similar to the rate seeking help nine months before an abortion.
Putting aside the moral or immoral aspects of this issue of abortion. If it were banned once again and all pregnancies were to full term, this would seemingly allow for more births. Yes? Now in many cases the means to take care of said children are not always there. And the ones that exist now are overburdened for such attention and calls to cut are constantly being made. This resp. of care then falls to whom. If the result is that a Gov't program must be used more or one created then the Cons. are not happy with these socialistic programs. My question isn't the for or against ones right to an abortion. Rather, that once the newborn arrives who will see to the childs welfare and well being so they have a fighting chance to survive in this world. Will all people be acceptable to higher taxes/gov't funded programs to support these children? Will the people who have a spare room or two in their $200,000 split level home who have the means be willing to step up to the plate and share their home? Maybe they already do. Just asking questions in a practical vein. Either way someone has to pay the bill. Like anyhing else in this life if you want something you must be prepared to pay for it. Who will it be?
Abortion was always available in the USA for the wealthy. What Roe vs Wade did was to make it available and safe for all women, not just those with wealth or power. Before Roe vs Wade, the poor or middle class would risk jail, or death while getting an abortion; the wealthy family doctor would preform abortions and label them a "d&c". Wealthy women would also "go abroad on vacation" while in reality they went abroad where abortion was safe and legal.
Repealing Roe vs Wade won't end abortion... it will just drive them back to the back alleys, raise the price, and once again take the life of women.
