ROTTERDAM -- A longtime Golub Corp. employee is accused of stealing $300,000 from an employee benefit program of the grocery store chain, according to Rotterdam police.

Police have charged Christina Pagano of Schenectady with second-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records for allegedly misappropriating funds from the program. Price Chopper spokeswoman Mona Golub said employees did not lose money because of the theft. Pagano is accused of taking excess money from the program, Golub said.............>>>>..................>>>>.............Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....96.php#ixzz1Aloi2ZgL

Golub employee accused of larceny

$300,000 allegedly taken

A woman in charge of an employee rewards program for Golub Corp. is accused of stealing an estimated $300,000 over the course of a decade, Rotterdam police said Tuesday.
Longtime Golub employee Christina Pagano, 52, of 3 Cedar Court, Colonie, was arrested Monday on felony charges of second-degree grand larceny and fi rstdegree falsifying business records after an internal audit revealed the money was missing.
Pagano is accused of taking the money over a 10-year period in the form of reward certifi cates, police spokesman Lt. Michael Brown said Tuesday. Pagano had been the only person who maintained the benefit program for employees, which Brown referred to as a reward program. When a manager went to her to request, for example, 25 reward certificates for employees, Brown said Pagano would prepare 35 certificates, then give 25 to the manager and keep 10 for herself. “She really didn’t get into why,” Brown said. The certificates themselves were redeemable only at Price Chopper stores. Among the items she allegedly purchased were gift cards, Brown said. She also didn’t tell investigators exactly what she was using the certificates for. She is believed to have purchased some gifts, Brown said. The yearly totals ranged from $20,000 to $50,000, Brown said. Ten years back is as far back as records were available. The certificates could be redeemed only by an employee using his or her Price Chopper Advant-Edge card, Brown said. The records on Pagano’s card helped provide evidence in the case. Pagano had been an employee with Golub for 34 years. Golub Corp. spokeswoman Mona Golub said Tuesday that the company was disappointed. .................>>>>....................>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00700&AppName=1

SCHENECTADY — A once-trusted executive secretary who had worked for 35 years at the Golub Corp. will serve up to 1 to 3 years in prison for stealing $313,126 through an employee-rewards program.

Christina Pagano also agreed in Schenectady County Court Friday to repay the money and $30,000 to the state Department and Taxation and Finance as part of the negotiated plea to felony grand larceny.

The 53-year-old city resident stole the money from 2000 to 2010 from the corporation that owns the Price Chopper supermarkets.

During that time, she pilfered 6,395 gift certificates worth $313,126 to buy personal items, groceries and gift cards she used at other establishments.................>>>>..............>>>>..................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....05.php#ixzz1jOgMsA3W

In a case like this you always have to wonder what were the underlying causes forcing her to do what she did. Sometimes it's drugs, financial problems, illness, or just keeping up with the Jones.

Do not judge those you don't know...

What do you think news is for?  It is for people to consume and form opinions and make judgements.  The newspaper is FILLED with people I don't know.  If you read about shootings in Hamilton Hill, I'm pretty sure that even if you don't know the people involved in the shooting, you have an opinion and make a judgement about Hamilton Hill.

Life is full of speculation, always anticipating what is around the next corner.

maybe that's what's wrong with society....always analyzing....projection, judging....the news hypes everything up and because of the

way the words are written or said.....makes us question and analyze....and not always with the true facts....

All I am saying there is enough of all that everyday...it would be nice for once or even more....let it go and move on...
