There’s a major snow storm heading our way, and it’s coming from parts of the Midwest and Southeast, where most people had a white Christmas on Saturday.
Here in the Capital Region we may have missed out on a white Christmas, - but only by one day.

According to FOX23 Meteorologist Jason Caterina, light snow will develop Sunday afternoon and really start to pick-up during the evening hours and overnight.

Although it will be snowing throughout the afternoon, locally the Albany area isn’t expected to get a great deal of accumulation during the day, but Caterina says it will start to collect.

The bulk of the accumulation will be during the later evening and overnight hours when the snow could be coming down at a rate of one inch per hour or more in spots.

Add the snow to winds of 10 to 20 mph, it looks like weather will be a mess overnight and especially bad for Monday morning's commute.

By Monday morning, a total of 6 to 12 inches is expected in Albany, with 12 to 18 plus inches possible to the south and east of the Capital District.

Caterina says there is the potential for higher snow totals in Albany, possibly in the range of 8 to 12 inches or more depending on some deeper meteorological conditions.

Overall, however, he says most of the storm action will take place overnight Sunday into Monday and, at times, visibility could be reduced to near zero overnight.

Travel will be extremely treacherous and you’re advised to stay off the roads during the evening and overnight as well.

If you need to go anywhere, especially to the south and east of the Capital District, Sunday afternoon will be your best bet as the snow will be just developing and moving in from south to north.

all moving parts greased
diesel cut with 25% kerosene to prevent the GEL
fuel filters changed
carbs primed with fresh hi-test fuel
fluid levels checked
all motors and equipment run to temp and checked for proper operation
extra shear pins located and set aside

bring it on

remember -NEVER
check clogged snow blowers while their engines are running
or
with part of your body or while you are in directly front of the entrance or exit of snow moving equipment

always turn equipment off
always put equipment in  park
always lower all all hydraulicly raised equipment
always use an expendable pushing device to clear clogs

and NEVER fill fuel containers in your car, truck or trailer  - always on the ground

Most of all watch out for those working in the cold, slow down, give a wide passage and check on your neighbors.
