Quoted from AVON

NY taxes, some of the highest in the country.  County taxes some of the highest in the country.
City taxes, highest in the county, Rotterdam taxes highest Town in the county.  How did we get here?  Under whose leadership?  And to keep the same crew in power makes sense to people?  I think not.  This isn't like some game of kickball, there are people desperately trying to hang on, and the economy isn't getting any better.  Stop losing the forest before the trees and recognize that financial security is at stake and that the electorate has to promote change.  It's not a question of if you won or not, it's a question of, (like above), is it good for the Town.

Republicans controlled the Town Board for 5 of the last 7 years ... and did NOTHING to improve the town's situation ....  and the DelGallo-Godlewski  Co-Dictatorship didn't anything to improve the situation either.... and since DelGallo and Godlewski had to hire REPUBLICAN HATCHET MAN to run their failed attempt to take over the Democratic party ----- one could say that DelGallo and Godlewski were just Republicans in disguise.

Three candidates battle for Rotterdam supervisor post
By PAUL NELSON Staff writer
Updated 06:21 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011

ROTTERDAM -- Supervisor Francis "Frank" Del Gallo said he wants a second term so he can keep saving tax-weary residents money by running the town the way he's earned a living.

"I know how to run a business, the town is a business and I know how to save taxpayers money," said Del Gallo, 73. He used the bidding process to hire a law firm for $50,000, he said, when some Town Board members would have paid more for the legal work.

Challengers Brian McGarry, 54, with the No New Tax Party and the Republican line, too, and Harry Buffardi, a Democrat with four other parties' endorsements, say it takes more than a business sense to run the municipality day-to-day.

Del Gallo, who owns businesses in Rotterdam, blamed cutthroat Rotterdam politics for giving him a bad name. After failing to secure any endorsements, he created the Rotterdam First Party.

McGarry, an elementary school teacher for 20 years and a television cameraman for a decade, said his "varied experience" makes him well suited to lead Rotterdam.

"The taxpayers want the politicians to stop the bleeding," he said, asserting that residents are being "crushed" by rising property taxes for government and schools. If elected, McGarry said he would huddle with department heads and "lay out a global vision of conservative spending" to rein in spending.........................>>>>..................>>>>...........Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....39.php#ixzz1bySgpnY7

laughing stock....yup.....truth......the dissention is only between the gumbas and the fight over the small taxpayer teets left and which one of them can get the biggest bang off the taxpayers......

Rotterdam is like

The Town of Rotterdam budgetary process is again riddled with the theatrics and Democrat party
political infighting that took place only one year ago.  Last Wednesday night at a public hearing regarding
the budget prepared by the Town Supervisor, a “Trojan Horse” assault was waged by three
councilpersons who presented an opposing plan that relied on fiscal “slight of hand” tricks and phantom
revenues and savings.  The dramatic production exemplified the dysfunction that plagues our town
government.

The alternative budget proposes the appropriation of fund reserves from the special taxing
districts (water & sewer) to offset the cost of government operations.  Without addressing the factors
behind the deficit, it does nothing but “kick the can down the road” for future administrations to address.
Further, spending the reserves legally allocated for the maintenance and expansion of public
infrastructure compromises the potential for business development and economic growth.   The prospects
for the expansion of the public sewer line or replacement of aging and decaying water mains are
jeopardized.

For our elected representatives to avoid making the difficult choices regarding appropriate town
staffing levels, funding for discretionary items and services, and public service contract provisions, by
instead raiding the reserve funds accumulated by special taxing districts, is reminiscent of those in
Congress who over the years pilfered away the publics’ contributions to the Social Security “lockbox”.   A
one time infusion of funds from reserves that are specifically allocated for long term investment is not a
resolution to the ongoing fiscal challenges.  This kind of budgetary gimmickry is irresponsible and
threatens both the financial security of our residents and the long term prosperity of our town.

There is no place for drama, posturing, or voodoo economics in sound financial planning.
Respect, cooperation, “outside the box” ingenuity by all board members, regardless of political
persuasion, and input from the general public are paramount to proposing and passing a timely and
responsible annual budget.

I think I saw BM at the Occupy Albany gathering.  I feel better about him knowing he would be there with that crowd.

The dictators in Rotterdam was the TOWN BOARD......DiLeva the ringleader coached from the audience

with cell phones....I don't see where  the idea that FDG had the respect of his contituents at any time in 2010
and certainly not 2011.

So separate the banans and oranges...MM, WC ND and RG were all in it together....add to the mix
DM. JP, TJ, and the rest of the DEMS   and what do you have??    a bunch of numbered politicans with an ego
and they should be brought down to size.

Bullies, greed, and entitlement because of WHO THEY THINK THEY ARE...

FDG is to respected for the man he is...he didn't run, he didn't back down...and now he knows what to do and
how and why he took all the flack.......That takes guts, integrity and belief in himself...he deserves to continue
the job as Supervisor.....hindsight is 20/20....that will make him a better leader...not looking back, but
ahead...
